Wondering if anyone else here saw the premier?!? The show very much reminded me of LOST, another show by JJ Abrams & Bad Robot Productions. Literally from the music, to the characters, to the story line, complete with flashbacks. What are your thoughts ....is it the next "LOST" or a failed attempt?!?
Don't know yet. I definitely got a bit of the LOST vibe from it and not just because Hurley's in it. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes and will continue to watch. Hopefully it lives up. The show was also co-created by LOST writer and Executive Producer Elizabeth Sarnoff so that's a good sign.
JJ Abrams makes/produces entertaining shows, but it gets drawn out to the point where you regret watching. I'll just wait for the 5+ season dvds if it's a hit.
Why do I get the feeling that there are many extra level basements below Alcatraz? The prisoners vanished to basement level 10 for monitoring and experimentation. It seemed obvious at the end that the chick in the coma who was shot in the chest was injecting prisoners with some drug back when Alcatraz was still open. Was this drug an anti-aging drug? Or, did the prisoners actually vanish because ET scooped them up (unlikely seeing as how they are doing someone's bidding one at a time as they are re-introduced to society)! The early problem I have with the story is each week we are going to get a new prisoner doing whatever it is they do once unleased back into society...only to be caught and go to the "new" Alcatraz. So, we have to go through many, many different prisoners to get their stories (in past and present timelines) and, all the while, they have to keep us interested in the bigger conspiracy storyline. It could get really old getting to the substance of the matter at hand. I'll never get tired of looking at the lead female cop's chest, though, as she bounces through taking down these modified prisoners unleashed back on society.
I think so. I don't think so. They showed her with the 2nd prisoner, Cobb, so he should recognize her. But the first prisoner, Sylvanne, he didn't seem to recognize her at all. So yeah, she was there in the 60's and disappeared and reappeared in present day, but I don't think she had anything to do with it. I think it might have more to do with Rebecca's grandfather, who was the one talking to Jack from behind the curtain, but that might be a red herring.
After watching Sherlock, this show sucks so much balls. Worst detective work of all time... "Look, I found this bullet in a bush!" I am amazed that you guys can stick it out and actually get through these...
The best show JJ Abrams has brought to small screen since Alias and LOST has been the most underrated/underviewed show currently airing, FRINGE. I wanted to like Alcatraz, but it gets a grade of "meh" from me. It isn't as horrible as Terra Nova or that other Spielberg show on TnT, but it is disappointing. You would think with the success of shows like LOST and Battlestar Galactica there would be more of a push to put more serialized shows on TV; instead we get this "monster of the week with a hint of over-arching story shoehorned in the last 5 minutes" type of show, AGAIN! Sigh, I'll continue to watch because it has that twinge of sci-fi and with sci-fi a show can turn dramatically for the better. The inmates that have comeback, so far, are boring, but I do want to know who is sending these guy to the present and for what purpose. Also, why the Indian chick is still young. Maybe I'll just fast forward to the last 5 minutes of every episode to piece together a worthwhile story.
That's exactly what it feels like when I first saw its trailer on Fox. So anybody here can tell me if it's worth watching?
The premise is interesting. The first two episodes were OK. I recommend watching. Unless the first episode or two are really bad, I usually give new shows 3-4 episodes before locking in, recording to view later or giving up.
I remember the show now: BRIMSTONE "Brimstone" (1998) More at IMDbPro » ad feedback Ezekial Stone, a former cop, killed his wife's rapist and two months later killed by a criminal. He is sent to Hell for his crime. However, 113 evil souls have escaped, and the Devil sends him back to Earth to recover them. Both Stone and the escaped souls can only be harmed or killed by each other, and they can be sent back to Hell if their eyes (the "windows to the soul") are destroyed. If Stone can recover all 113, then he'll be given a second chance at life...or so the Devil says. Rocket River
Well, with Chuck ending, I literally have NO shows. If the Rockets aren't playing, I play video games because there's nothing else I watch except for Psych and Mythbusters (which aren't airing right now) and the Daily Show. So I'm looking and willing to give this one a chance.
Like most shows, I'll wait to see if it gets picked up for more than a couple seasons, watch all them in a couple weeks, and continue to watch (assuming I like it). I hate getting into shows that get canceled after 1.5 seasons. Makes the hours you watched it feel even more like a waste.
I'm in, but then there hasn't been a JJ show since Alias that I haven't watched... except I could only stand one episode of that What About Brian show.
