I agree with you. I am actually really impressed with the coaching staff. They figured out the players' strengths and weakness really fast and have doled out minutes accordingly. Other than the failures of playing TWill and Flynn early, they've been right on the mark.
They are already playing better than last season. I don't recall to many winning streaks early last season. I was really impressed more with the Portland win moreso than the other three. I also expected them to lose against the Wizards too because of their tendency to lose those types of games during the season. All in all, i like the direction that they are going in.
Dalembert has started hitting his stride and starting. Lowry has been back a few games. Lee is finally back. Parsons, with his defense, movement w/o the ball, and rebound/putback awareness is starting. Kmart is back, tho had a so-so game tonight. Dragic is a little less tragic. Hill is barely getting minutes. Bud is 2nd string, but making some small contribuations. Scola is himself, which altho isnt great defensively, is still good. overall I think past that terrible slide while we had injuries and faced tough opponents, im inclined to be optimistic as well. Are we a great team? no. Are we good? Sure, just not consistent exactly - which usually turns good teams great. Teamwork, but no legit superstar. If we had a couple bench players either step up or traded for better role players, I'd be relatively happy. Go Rockets!
Not good enough to make some noise in the playoffs. Not bad enough to get an early lottery pick. Great picture.
This team as currently built was centered around Yao. We'd be looking at 55 plus wins. Morey tried to make a splash and pick a direction. Stern vetoed it. Everyone on the roster outside of Scola and Martin and Dalembert is 25 or under. We're in much better position than a lot of other teams. At least we're not the Bobcats or Raptors.
We are playing crap teams so yeah we dont look so bad. We need to get starting calibre SF and legit back up C - then it wouldnt look bad at all.
I really like the nucleus of the starting unit, but the bench is a HUGE concern. I think Morey and the front office should be working the phones to get some front court help for Dalembert when he's on the bench. Hill is so inconsistent that it boggles my mind. Also, its time to cut ties with T-Will, Flynn, and Thabeet. Really, whats the purpose here? I commend Morey for taking these talented athletes for pennies on the dollar, but it just didnt work out. Lets bring Morris back up from the D-League and let him get some burn. I think they should be able to package together these guys at the trade deadline at the latest for a quality backup big like maybe Robin Lopez or inquire about Cole Aldrich. -I really am excited to see what this team looks like after the summer with the starting core coming back, plus most likely Montejunas & Lull, and the 1 or 2 rookies coming in.
i think the greatest thing is that we can see that our team chemistry is improving and everyone is stepping up. Parson and Martin are giving more assists. Dalembert is contributing. impact on both defense/rebounding and scoring. Lowry is more consistent on treys.
First 10 games we were playing very good teams. And last 4 games or so we were playing not so great teams. I think our current record reflects the kind of team we are.
Teams like the raptors or pistons, suck. Rockets don't suck. We may not be up there with the elite teams but we definitely are not in the sucky laughing stock group.
