again the problem isnt lack of people going but more lack or support, teams like the spurs have some crazy fans, and if the Rockets just had more support it might encourage more ppl to come. If you see on TV everyone is having alot of fun then more people will come.
i can beat that! i live in southern california with a butt load of annoying lakers fans. i can only watch games online, often times with a lagging stream. match that! jkjk, isn't a competition
<iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YHP8JYy0XmU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I know many people dont like Duke and this is rowdy college kids but if we can get 1/100 if this, the Rockets would get best home advantage in the league.
Its a lockout year. Games are too close and the excitement for each game is less. The Rockets are not expected to compete this year. Many things go into the low attendance this year.
not just this year bro, its always been bad. http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/bullstopnbaattendance_091028.html
I have turf toe and still managed to go to the game.... I left in the 3rd though, the pain almost had me crying.
When I watch a Rockets game (and I watch every single one) either at home or in the arena, I have a hard time sitting in my seat throughout. I don't understand how people, if they are true fans, can't get excited or emotional even against garbage teams. Basketball is lovely. It really really is.
Are you really trying to debate the fact we are in a recession? I agree with your overall sentiment, but sorry to break it to you, most people are fair weather fans. The mentality you mentioned is what most people live by. If there is no star to watch, or if the team isn't in immediate contention, (the two usually go hand in hand...) most people don't care. I'm sorry most people don't get into the Rockets to the same extent many of us do here, but in reality it isn't in the mindset of our culture. I mean, who wants to sit through the growing pains of a rebuilding team. Might as well ask people listen to a challenging piece of music or maybe attend a lecture on something once in a while....
I thought it was dead in arena unnaceptable....I wish I could be at all the games..but I'm in cali...I know the economy is bad but the warriors still find away to get 15-16 thousand a night and they have like 1 playoff appearance in the last 16 years..smh
So Rockets fans are just like the team then? Maybe Daryl can do more on-air [radio] advertisements. That'll help!
Been living in Austin for little over a year and it sucks not going to at least 20-30 games a season. Saturday is going to be my first of a handful I get go to but the fans are the biggest problem. I've been saying for years that Houston has ****ty fans and nobody cares unless they are winning. I'm always shocked when I see somebody with rockets gear on. I always think I'm the only one wearing rockets stuff no matter what their record is.
I think rockets fans have been great. We haven't fielded a contender for several years and yet the attendance has just this year dropped off. When things are going well there isn't many better home court advantages.
I would love to go to every game but simply cant afford the 45 minute drive, parking, and ticket price. And then I don't buy anything at the arena, because I'm on that poor college kid budget. But hey, I do watch every single game.
Man How old are you?? You can't compare the Rockets, a team that has not been relavant in the last 15 or so years to the Spurs who have won like 4 championships and been to many more conference championships as well as winning the division multiple times since then The Rockets are probably one the most underachieving teams after winning multiple championships, in all of the NBA. These guys have only gotten out of the first round once and winning the division in about a decade and a half??? Never happened Rocket fans are at the point now of looking at like three straight seasons of mediocrity. C'mon man, with these high priced tickets and effed up economy, people are not just going to get up to cheer on a sorry team "If they win the people will come"
Think of it as an equation. The Less Rockets Fans Show Up To The Games, The More The Rockets Win. Blame the tough schedule, the lack of making the playoffs over the past 2 seasons, the Texans playoff run, the amount of people betting on the Rockets, or even Stern gutting the Gasol deal. For whatever reason, Houston sports fans aren't showing up to Rockets games this season. If this trend continues, I expect the Rockets to make the playoffs. Now to find a way of not ending up like the Oilers.
It's probably just the schedule though. I can't count the amount of games I've missed this season because there was a Rockets game the day before. I'm sure as people adjust to the schedule, and the Rockets continue to win games the fans will follow.
