Something like that. I didn't get into it with him. I don't argue with cops.

Xerobull quit trying to beat the law -- you were obviously in the wrong -- man up and pay your due.

Jebus, traffic tickets are +300 in Texas? One wonders if they're not pocketing a little for themselves.

It's the state income tax. They have to get it from somewhere.

Plead differed adjudication, take driving school, the savings on your insurance will help defray the costs. After 6 months without a ticket, you have no violation record.

(I think all that is true, I did it about a year ago...lawyers?)

But, if he didn't shoot you with a radar, you can win.

That's always been the case when I've had a ticket. Easiest way to keep it off your record and have it not jack up your insurance rates.

It is NOT a "bull****" ticket. You did what the ticket says you did... are you saying he lied?

Too bad they never record what went on, so... it's your word against HIS. Either way, you're screwed.

Does the ticket say anything about using a radar gun or how the officer clocked your speed?

Just giving you an honest opinion, but if you had to swerve into another lane to avoid rear ending someone, you were going too fast and following too close.

I'd see if you can get the speed dropped and plead no contest to the lane change.

Exactly. A pig trying to make money so he can eat more donuts. Doesn't matter if he lied... thievery that exists in law enforcement.

"I had to jerk into the next lane or have to slam on my breaks as well."

If you're too close, you "SLAM" on your brakes or jerk into the next lane. If you're not too close, you react in time and push hard on your brakes and stay in your lane, which is not a traffic violation.

Also: "I had just entered the freeway, where the speed limit is 60."

Are you sure about this? (link of the location of the ticket?)

Cops barely show up to court anyways. Out of the 4 speeding tickets I've had, none of the cops showed up to court. I have 0 points. You won't lose much in fighting it. Go for it.

I would surmise that any cop, good or bad, witnessing someone jamming on his breaks and swerving to avoid a rear-end collision, is going to pull that offender over.

Especially if that cop is defenseless on the shoulder of the road giving someone a ticket.

My guess is that here is the Class B Misdemeanor he did not cite you for: http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/moveover.asp

Who goes 60 mph right when they enter the highway?

You must be "THAT GUY" that everyone already driving on the freeway has to avoid when you enter from the ramp.

The cost of the ticket will be less than lawyer fees. Pay the fine and drive slower next time.

I believe you can be taken to jail for anything but speeding.

A reasonable driver can easily have his speed up to 60 after driving on the entrance ramp by the time he is ready to merge with traffic on the highway.

I was at I-10 and Sheldon this afternoon with my father. I saw like 4 scantily clad women walking up and down the street, probably prostitutes. One of them came directly off the "faces of meth" ads. Scary! I could tell that lots of illegal activity goes on in that area. Cops need to patrol areas like these and not sit on their asses on the side of the road.

I've gone the lawyer route and ended being dead last. ****ing lawyer was a prick too. Never took that route again and just took care of things myself in court.

just got a ticket recently also for not stopping on a stop sign. my first ticket ever. been driving for 15 years. i don't want to go thru all the hassle of going to a court so I decided to pay 160. clearly the cop was just trying to make his quota. sometimes driving carefully is not enough.

Didn't happen to me. I had a lawyer, the cop showed up, I had to come back court at 1PM after sitting there from 8-10am, came back and one hour later ticket dismissed. No idea how this is legal, but I was fine with it.
