<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wM9sam2u_Tk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Coast Guard guy is fantastic. The captain...wow, what a sorry excuse for a captain of a ship.
This captain is worse than the captain of the Exxon Valdez who at least could blame things on being drunk.
this is the skit i was referencing in my previous post. <object width="512" height="288"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/oC9EazbKBY8VYPmy4e3gXA"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/oC9EazbKBY8VYPmy4e3gXA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object>
I wouldn't set foot on that ship, if they salvage it and use it again. The whole thing sounds horrible. I'd like to think i could deal with myself, and maybe anothe able adult, but imagine being responsible for your children at the same time? Or an elderly person? The worst part is not knowing what's going on, which would help you decide where to go and what to do.
You can do better than that. I'll see you and raise you one: And if Ian McShane is playing the captain. I got John Corbett for the Coast Guard guy.
BREAKING NEWS - An Italian reporter claims the captain had noticeable fear boner when refusing to return to sinking cruise ship.
When you go on a cruise the captain always walks around like a boss, then there is some BS captains dinner or something. Now I am guessing their ability to get laid has significantly decreased. And to just go ahead and one up you guys on captain pictures: Spoiler
you guys seem to have some romanticized idea on the duties and fortitude of a ship captain, most likely from what you have gathered in movies. A captain must go down with his ship! Lol. The guy is a hired cheauffer of a f-ing carnival cruise ship, not some grizzled war hero who is abandoning his battleship. so he's somewhat of a p***y. The bigger story here is how him and the rest of the crew was seemingly untrained and ill-equipped to handle this catastrophe. Carnival sure couldn't be doing any better of a job of taking the blame off themselves and placing it on one person in an effort to save their image, that's for sure.
So you're okay with some shirking their duties because you would? You okay with your pilot putting on a parachute and taking off because you don't romanticize what he should be doing?
I agree completely. The fact they are scapegoating the captain is sickening to me. They need to own their mistake as well which they are not doing. Sure the captain is an idiot but there was failure on multiple levels and the carnival line can only cover their ears and keep saying 'captain LALALA I CANT HEAR YOU CAPTAIN !! The captain was long gone and the rest of the crew and everyone else wasn't helping. The fact that they are using papers charts, wheres the 2nd , 3rd 4th in command, no training etc. The fact that they had the guy as captain and barely started on ships less than 10 years ago? The captain isn't god he was a d******d that bailed and now somehow he is responsible for all wars and if it rains tomorrow let's blame the captain.
How is it scapegoating? The major onus is on him. Like you said, there were failures on multiple levels that were brought to light because HE caused it.
