Signing a veteran center and not letting the young play more min? it doesn't seem Les and Morey want to tank at all...
As TheFreak put it with his image, Alexander wanted a change. All the other reasons put forth here, with all due respect, are just so much bull****.
Lowry didnt get meaningful minutes till Brooks got injured. So that was forced. It got to the point that Brooks had to get traded so there was no confrontation. Pat didnt get much meaningful minutes last year. Chase didnt get much till Shane was traded. Adelman was a player coach, he stuck with the starting five through thick and thin.
I think the team is getting the hang of playing defense. On offense, we run more one-on-one and pick-n-roll/pop plays now. In a way, that's good. Hopefully it will result in our guys getting more skilled to finish endgames. The troubles of MINN now mirror our own troubles the past 2 years. RA's offense gets us big leads but we cannot keep them because our defense is so weak. Then when defenses clamp down in the closing minutes, we have trouble running our plays.
Adelman is a HOF coach and one of the best coaches in the league. McHale is a HOF player and not a bad coach but I don't think he's near Adelman in terms of coaching ability.
pretty much The notion on here was Adelman didn't play young players, thats just false in every way. The other notion on here is Adelman didn't emphasize defense, which is false again. He simply played to his team's strength which was up & down faster paced basketball. Anybody with basketball knowledge knows the faster you play the more points you give up. Adelman's argument to Morey was "If you want a better defense, get me a legit center who'll protect the rim". It was a huge mistake letting Adelman walk. The guy wanted to stay but Les & Morey wanted a coach they could control (and pick the assistants too). Adelman only wanted to win while the organization wanted popularly.
Reek, I respect your basketball takes, but honestly, I believe you are way off. Rudy got more out of his guys than Chaney, Phil Jackson got more than other coaches. Adelman is of the same, he gets more out of his guys that most. And can you honestly say that Popovich is not worth 5 extra wins a year? I think there are some coaches that are definitly worth that.... DD
Pretty muc. I told posters years ago adelman didn't really care for morey and his style. Many doubted me, but in the end, he went out like a man. He didn't bow down and let someone control what he's great at, coaching. I'll take adelman everyday and twice on sundays vs morey.
How? In terms of record? Player Development? I don't think even adelman could've added more wins than what McHale has done or let younger players get more pt. Could you see that with adelman, he'd still have bud starting instead of Parsons.

This. Morey and Adelman both outright said it in interviews. It's been posted up and down the bbs. But, still posters want to think it's is some other reason that they have somehow divined in the tea leaves. Morey wanted to change the way the team operated. Adelman didn't want to make the changes that were necessary to get that done. That's it.
