Kubiak

Dude, there was 45 seconds on the clock. You need almost 50 yards to get a game tying TD, you don't want to waste TO's for a running play that may get 5 or 6 yards. I mean, if you get down to the 2 or 3, then you can afford to run because you have timeouts in your pocket, but at the 48 yard line? C'mon man.

 

Just cannot blame Kubiak today. It's downright silly to do that. We were a play away from tying the game against a great defense in their house in a game that Jacoby Jones tried to put us out of in the 1st quarter.

We don't know what was dialed up on those long interceptions. For all we know Yates made the wrong read and tried to force it when he had someone else open.

It's easy to bash Kareem too, but he actually was pretty solid ... a couple of those plays were unbelievable catches. The sole goat in this is Jacoby. Don't muff that punt and we never lose momentum and I believe we win it.

And chrisjent-- it was a catch by Boldin. He clearly got one foot and one hand in bounds. Not worth a challenge.

 

I have had no love for Kubes over the years and still don't really, but he doesn't deserve to be fired. Granted that Wade had a huge contribution and that we're not nearly as good if Bob doesn't make that decision for Kubes. And I hate to blame injuries, but the loss of Schaub (and even Leinart) was huge. With Schaub, I firmly believe we go 13-3, reach the AFC Championship game, and have a legit shot at the Super Bowl. And Kubes would've been the coach of that team.

It sucks that we lost. It sucks the way we lost. But you can't blame Kubiak because his 3rd string 5th round rookie QB didn't play well against the #3 defense in the NFL. The fact that we got as far as we did and were as close as we were is a testament to the job management and the coaching staff has done this year despite all the injuries.

 

Not exactly the same, but that's largely why Indy was so bad this year. They had a great pass defense but a lousy run defense. With Manning, they'd get up early and force teams to pass against them which they were geared to defend. Without Manning and the ability to get early leads, their D was exposed.

Once the Texans were forced to pass due to the clock, the game was pretty much over. It's hard enough to score on the Ravens when you can do whatever you want. It's much harder when you're forced to be one dimensional and they know what's coming.

 

People are pinning this loss on Kubes? Really?

Jacoby muffs a punt, almost 2, TJ throws 3 INTs, and the blame is on Kubiak?

We lost our 1st and 2nd QB, pro-bowl LB, and elite WR for the majority of the season, and still won the division. We played the #1 seed down to the last play, despite 3 dumb turnovers. He has an elite coaching staff, and the locker room loves him. Kubiak's job couldn't be safer.

 

As much as I hate his conservative and predictable play calling at times he didn't have all the weapons. He the best option at this point with this group. Give him another shot with full hopefully healthy squad.

Its funny because most of the criticism of his playcalling this game is him NOT being conservative and NOT being predictable. People now don't want Yates throwing deep to Andre... they prefer handoffs to Arian in the 4th quarter.

Don't think everybody is ever going to be pleased, but criticizing him for today's game is ridiculous.

 

Who put Jacoby out there? Why was Jacoby still on the team? No one who has seen Jacoby play was surprised by his ineptitude. First rule of coaching, protect your team from bad players. Don't let the screw ups be in a position to sink you.

 

Jacoby...has NO FUMBLES or Muffs...this year. PERIOD. He has been very good this year in the return game. He had a bad day. So did Yates..........

 

We all know Jacoby is a knucklehead, but he's been pretty surehanded over his career. He'll stand still, he'll run backwards, he'll run a mile in a circle and go nowhere, but he doesn't fumble. NOBODY could've predicted Jacoby would've ****ed up as much as he did.

 

Kubiak told TJ to go deep or TJ just chose the deep route instead of the other options? The coach calls the plays but he doesn't tell the QB who to throw to. If a guy is double covered like Andre was, it's up to the QB to look somewhere else.

And again, you've got 2 minutes left. You don't want to have to burn timeouts to keep time from bleeding off the clock when you need a TD to tie. You want to keep them in your pocket for when you really need them.

Your football IQ is lower than Jacoby Jones'.

 

You said it cost them 3 points. For all we know it saved them 4 points. You just can't come to a definitive conclusion based on something that didn't happen.

 

I'm actually ok with the job Kubiak did this year. I think he has grown a great deal and hopefully continue to get better. Yes he has his faults but what coach doesn't?

Look at a guy like Tom Coughlin, how many times have people said he was done in New York? All coaches have their faults. Now, I'm not saying Kubiak is an elite head coach by any stretch, but with Wade on the other side of the ball, I think there is a nice balance there. I also feel like Kubiak did a great job keeping all of his QB's involved and ready to go(before the injuries).

Let's hope the Texans stay healthy next year, and see what happens. No need for knee jerking because we are all upset with the loss.

 

I don't blame Kubiak for today (but have wanted him gone for 3 years) but I did question him once:

After Foster's TD why didn't he go for two? The PAT made it a 4 point game. You go for 2 (and make it) and a fieldgoal ties. You kick the PAT or miss the 2PC and you need a touchdown or two fieldgoals to take the lead. Not a huge deal in the long run but I saw no reason not to try for 2.

 

I'm proud of this kid kubiak. He did a hell of a job, with wade on his side, they will be glorious in many battlefights.

 

Seriously... those interceptions or near interceptions, TJ was trying to force it. Pretty obvious he made up his mind before even hiking the ball.
