I would love to hear you present your case as to why that was great play calling.

Some people will always bash Kubiak, no matter what he does. I kinda wish we could have seen Delhomme today, but I'm not at practices everyday like Kubak, so I think he probably knows more about who should be taking snaps. I really don't have any problems with Kubiak, no coach gets it right all the time. When you consider all the injuries this year, I think Kubiak did a good job.

I have to say I AGREE with Rocket River on this one

Why was Kubiak putting it in Yates hands to HIT the HOME RUN downfield.... when the SHORT stuff was WORKING just FINE!

DEEP passes when you need ONE yard?

    DEEP pass on FIRST DOWN?

Ya it really sucks that out of all the good in our season, this curse has stuck with us. Kubes will definitely get an undeserved extension. I know we had a rookie out there, but he let this one slip in the 4th with his ****ty playcalling, no excuses, that was just pathetic.

It wasn't that I hate the playcalling more than I hate the throw. The last two plays were great, but then, TJ makes a terrible throw.

On the final drive, the sidelines were covered like hell. You get tackled inbounds, we're ****ed anyway.

I'll apologize for callin' RR stupid/r****ded...my bad.

Prior to this season, I wanted him fired if he can't make the playoffs or lost his first playoff game. It's not so much his playcalling, but that he had 5 years only to be mediocre.

He's earned at least next season. Except now the Texans have AFC championship or bust written on it.

Yates screams a barely drafted rookie QB with 6 games experience.

A minor miracle Yate won any games, including a playoff game.

But for the love of God let's fire the coach for not winning
    the super bowl
    by four towndowns

Whether it cost us the game or not...

Kubiak did cost the team three points in the 1st Quarter. The reception to Bouldin clearly showed in replays that he was out of bounds. The correct decision was to challenge. Kubiak chose not to and the drive resulted in a field goal. There is no excuse for that kind of decision making.

How do you know the Ravens wouldn't have subsequently converted the ensuing 3rd and 4 (provided the challenge was confirmed) and ultimately gotten a TD? Do you think the rest of the game would have unfolded exactly as it did had Kubiak successfully challenged that play?

On that sideline play I think the receiver taped his toe down prior to his next step that was out of bounds.

Based on the replays shown, it was certainly questionable whether or not he tapped the one foot (next to the defender's shoe). It wasn't that clear cut.

As I stated in the initial post, I am not saying it cost us the game. What I am saying is given that the reception put the opposing team in FG range, you must challenge the play. You do not give up the opportunity for points that easily, especially given the quick momentum change moments prior (jones fumble and subsequent Ravens TD), and knowing points were going to be hard to come by. I have no idea how the game would have played out otherwise, but that does not excuse an obvious lapse in coaching.

They only showed one replay of it, well after the play, and only thought it may have been a possible challenge.

There was nothing obvious about that play... hell, when I watched the replay I thought he had two feet inbounds with possesion as well.

They only showed it once, so not a single person in here had "multiple" looks at it, unless you've recorded the game and gone back and rewatched it.

There wasn't anything that screamed "challenge me".

Its just this part of the OP's opening post
    Wade's D BROUGHT IT hard.

    After Jacoby's muff
    Kubiak's offense = THREE TURNOVERS

To the offense credit they did NOT allow Ravens to get a SINGLE sack. Yates was BARELY touched. So with ALL that protection, Kubes + protege Yates STILL throws 3 INTS?

Coming out the game you get to say Wade DID HIS PART. PERIOD
Can NOT say the same about Kubiak.

That does NOT dismiss Kubiak's ENTIRE GOOD year. Just he picked a bad time to look like the old Kubiak-in-question.

He coached better than Harbaugh and Cameron today. The Ravens tried to give the game away at the end.

No matter what your post-game frustrations, the Texans will be regarded as Super Bowl contenders next year with everyone healthy.

Keep in mind, Smith and Kubiak built this team and we still have the draft, money to spend and an empty roster spot after Jacoby Jones' unceremonious release. If we can figure out a way to keep Mario, sign Arian and maintain a healthy Matt Shaub, Kubiak will coach this team into late January.

    Book it.

And what exactly is the "old Kubiak in-question" entail? Should he have not attempted downfield throws? Should he have handed it to Arian less than the near career high 27 carries? Should he have not allowed Yates to wipe his own ass?

Yes, the offense stalled against a damn good defense... and Yates threw questionable passes into the heart of said damn good defense.

I still don't understand what the old "Kubiak-in-question" refers to however... if anything, his offense was the only thing winning games for this team for the last 3-4 years.

kubiak did what he could with Yates under center. Anyone who has any doubts or wants Kubiak gone is crazy. If the same had happened with Schaub under center, then I can see the frustration but with a rookie under center playing against the likes of Ed Reed and Ray Lewis? Kubiak did all he could.

I guess the fact that the Texans were able to run all over BALTIMORE without a legit QB has nothing at all to do with Kubiak. They have this great running game that fell out of the sky and Kubiak is just there to mess it up by making his QB throw sometimes.

Kubiak has his strengths. His ingame decision making is horrid. They have a great run blocking line and one of the best in the game back there. ..Two big pass plays and the Ravens were waiting for a third. The Ravens were stretched...on their heals. It was time to hand it to Arian. Take it out of TJ's hands and let Arian cut through them like butter.
