The all star weekend becomes increasingly boring every year. I used to love it, but the game itself is so uncompetitive it becomes pointless. Its like you are watching a shootaround or a light scrimmage(they would try harder even if it was practice). I've heard people suggest a 1-1 tournament which would be amazing and they could get a sponsor to give the winner 1-3 million for incentive. Or similarly instead of east west, they could have a tournament from 5-7 players in each division. Single elimination tournament, 20-30 minute games and then the final played on Sunday. each player on the winning team, 7,8 playesr would get a million. I just want to see them be really competitive and see actual games. thoughts, ideas?
Think you didn't watch last year's game, no highlights because both teams really wanted to win it, especially the West. Looked nothing like a scrimmage or shootaround. Felt more like a playoff game. I don't hate the highlight games you saw in other years though, the Rookie vs. Sophomores game was entertaining as hell. Agree with the 1on1 tournament though, people would go nuts seeing matchups like Kobe vs. Wade, Bron vs. KD, Bosh vs. Amare, Blake vs. Love, CP3 vs. Rose...
ya 1 on 1 would be awesome but the players would decline the tourney because they'd want more rest... one game is all they want
i agree. the all star game is really boring now. I enjoy the dunk contest / 3 point shootout much more. Nobody really tries in the all star game anymore, except for kobe last year when it was very obvious he was going for the mvp.. but meh.
1on1 tournament is a really interesting idea. I wonder how they'd organize it? I think it'd have to be done by position, cause asking CP3 to guard someone like Durant would just be unfair.
I only watched the Dallas 2010 ASG, didnt watch last years but I think we should change the main game to smaller games. Yes, it can get very boring... this. - If the happen to get 1on1, what is it first to? Will it be a round robin format?
yea, division works well bc NBA for some reason tries to emphasize it with seeding and generally wants to place some importance in the division they are in. So this can add to that. You make a competitive tournament of all stars, I mean imagine the pacific division team with Paul, Kobe, Griffin, Pau going against Lebron, Wade, Rondo, Dwight That would get huge ratings and make it small teams and shorter games, but winner of the tournament gets a million each player. Every player would play competitive to win a million in a 2 day tournament.
