CD should have gotten Lowry with the 24th,Memphis was high on Rudy. CD didn't get enough out of the 8th pick.
The problem was that the Rockets didn't value having a backup PG behind Rafer.
Fortunately, things changed when DM came around.

Then state it in your post smart guy.

"there were a lot better players in that draft than Lowry"

Regardless of your backtracking, he was still a top 10 player at the very least, IMMEDIATELY when he came out... So no, there were NOT "a lot of better players in that draft than Lowry"...

    You lose... Good day sir!

Here's a the top 20 from that 2006 draft in terms of career win shares up to this point (which, in turn, is based largely on the number of minutes you've played, your statistical production, and how well your team did defensively):

Bargnani and Lowry are really the MIP players of that draft

They are both going to make all star teams this year hopefully

How many points do win shares give us each game?

Do we start out with like a 4 point lead if we have 4 more win shares than the other team?

People here always talk about how we lost Rudy Gay to Memphis. Imagine what the Grizz fans feel about losing Lowry. And for whom again?

I think they are ok with Conley, he is not as good as Lowry, but he is pretty good.

I believe it was a 3-team deal involving the magic. Morey converted Rafer Alston to a Kyle Lowry. One of the best low-key trades in NBA history.

Lowry's play alone is SIGNIFICANT proof of Morey's genius.

Can you believe we're paying this guy like 6M/year?

Seriously... We have room for like 3 max contracts WITH Lowry If we could ever find them...

You can not look at one great success and imply it covers up for other not so great ones....

Clearly Lowry is the best thing Morey has done.....and it is still not enough.

That's not what I was saying. I was saying it's one stand alone example of his genius. He makes some mistakes here and there, but he has done much more right than he's done wrong, and Lowry is a great example of that (as is the fact that we've yet to have a losing season with him running the team in spite of all the major roster changes, injuries, now possibly even coaching changes, etc).

When he has the materials, he crafts them as well as anyone else possibly could. He can't make gold out of toilet paper, though, which is what a lot of people on this forum (apparently including yourself) seem to expect.

I wasn't asking about Lowry or DWilliams in previous years. I was talking about the DWilliams and KLowry of today. I know that Williams has been the better player in previous years, but what about right now?

For all those wondering, how KLowry landed here:

Memphis receives: Center Adonal Foyle, guard Mike Wilks and Orlando's 2009 first-round draft pick.

Orlando receives: Point guard Rafer Alston from Houston.

Houston receives: Point guard Kyle Lowry from Memphis and forward Brian Cook from Orlando

I think Rockets got the better of the trade...

Agreed, but you still swap Lowry for DWill if given the chance.

The only reason I would do it is because Dwight is so intent on playing with D-Will.

Lowry is playing miles better than Deron, at less than half the cost. Plus, Lowry is a true leader while Deron is one of those guys that sulks and blames his teammates and coach when things aren’t going his way.

The only real reason to trade Lowry for D-Will would be because of the bigger name, a.k.a. the hook for getting D12.
