The Ravens are a completely different team at home than on the road. I think they are 15-1 in their last 16 home games while on the road, their record is much closer to middle of the pack. Beyond just the wins and losses, there is a giant split in what they do at home and on the road. I think if the game as it is were in Houston, more than 50% of the experts would pick Houston.

Furthermore, I think if I was an ESPN prognosticator or guru or whatever, I'd have a hard time trying to justify picking the Texans. If you pick the Ravens and the Texans win, you write it off as an amazing upset and talk nice about the Texans for a week. If you pick the Texans and the Ravens win, you are a moron and prone to bizarre out-of-left-field picks for bucking conventional wisdom and that is a tag that sticks with you.

Aren't the Texans. Win less against the ravens? Like 0-5 or something?

    Time to break that habit!

We held a 1pt lead in the third and Ravens only lead by five, 19-14 with five minutes to play. But people see the final score and think we got blown out...we didn't and hopefully come tomorrow they will see how these Texans play.

I am seeing two "pick-sixes" and if that happens, we can win it. I am going to be cheering like crazy for Denver today. If they can knock off New England, then we have a superhighway to the Super Bowl. With the prospect of Denver in Reliant, the Texans should go into beast mode.

I'll never forgive Simmons for this article in 2005. Obviously, he still loves to take shots at this city.

to get fat or to get shot. Simmons doesn't get out too much does he? Even Bristol is just like Compton.

No wonder he calls his show the B.S report.. a lot sewage debris.

How does houston stand up with cities like LA, Chicago, NY, Miami as far as crime goes?

Get out of my dreams bro. I saw the Kareem pick six as well, because Flacco was hit as he threw. Also, Andre caught a looooong TD from TJ. Then I woke up smiling.

Of course, that was before the Rockets hired his buddy, Daryl Morey. Now he kind of likes Houston, at least until Morey's no longer with the Rockets.

From lowest to highest, violent crimes per 100,000 people per year:
    LA: 559.2
    New York: 581.7
Chicago (incomplete data, but it's lower than Houston)
    Houston: 986.1
    Miami: 1,107.7

There's probably more crime overall in New York and LA but the massive number of people that live there offset it.

Baltimore is in it's own stratosphere for crime.

As for the game, I hope the accumulation of little mistakes that occurred in the first game doesn't repeat itself. Dropped balls, missed tackles, bad calls (not Texans' fault)...those things really added up. Texans were like at midfield so many times and got stalled out...that 14pts could have been much more. I hope they correct that tomorrow, assuming Yates doesn't take a step back.

The wonderfully impossible would be Houston and Denver both win and we host the Broncos next week.

    It can happen!

    (pause)

    Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I'm going to focus on this stat:
The Houston Texans have never been defeated in postseason history.

I remember that one clear as a bell, don't even need to click on the link. This was in Katrina's aftermath, with the big jump in shootings that city officials kept trying to deny. Simmons ended up with PMS after ESPN booked him smack in the Galleria when 99% of events were Downtown. So his crying about traffic is weak - no one that lives here would tell anyone from out of town that staying in the Galleria would be a good idea if you're spending most of your time downtown. As if no hotels exist over there. But the traffic soured his milk and he was going to piss all over the city in response.

And he couldn't have been more of a hypocrite. Every single thing he mentioned is an LA stigma times 10.

But still, he didn't unleash have the wrath or disdain that he did (a year later?) over the Jacksonville Super Bowl. And I do lightly agree with him - his buried point that he's made multiple times over the years is that Super Bowls (or other neutral site Championship Games) should only be held in a few spots: Miami, San Diego, New Orleans and (hypocrite alert!) LA*. I would replace LA (possibly the most overrated city in the country) with the never going to happen Las Vegas. Seriously, MGM or PPE, build a killer stadium out there. With the age of the internet, Vegas' gambling taboos are gone. There is simply not a better place for two fanbases two descend for a championship game.
