The costa concordia is sinking. 115,000 TONS, not lbs.. TONS.. on its side.. 6 reported dead so far.. hundreds missing. WOW
btw it has a 165 foot gash on it's side .. it's done.. in before the 'I hate going on cruises but I'm going again next month' posts
yeah good question.. can you imagine being the insurance agent getting that call? RIP those that have died ..a friend just told me the value of the ship is half billion! crazy.. I have business tied to this industry and this is what they call 'wave season' (busy cruise booking period) in the cruise business..
Not sure what the dog has to do with this thread. But he's adorable so I'll let it go. Never taken a cruise and don't really intend to. Especially not on those mega-ships. Usually it's just things like mass food poisoning, but of course this was going to happen sooner or later too.
This is sad. Luckily most of the crew and passengers are accounted for. Accidents happen and this won't stop me on going on any cruises in the future.
Is it possible or reasonable to expect to be able to save everyone on a sinking cruise ship? Life boats, rescue patrol ships and or copters within a reasonable distance, et al?
Insensitively enough, the kind that actually makes it a cool, profitable and interesting job to have.
Apparently, they just saved an Asian couple from the shipwreck...a long time after the whole drama started unfolding.
Holy crack! How many hours? That is a Looooong time after the fact. I can't imagine the fear they must have felt
And they were on their honeymoon.....a rocky start to their marriage.* *Had to. But on a serious note, this is incredibly sad but I'm happy that so many people were saved. It reminds us that life is fragile, and even while enjoying life, it's very precious.
After seeing the image below, I wonder why more people didn't just jump from the side and swim to shore?
