Really? So the first line is statistically better than the 2nd? 24.5, 7.1, 4.4, 49%, 27%, 78% 23.7, 8.4, 5.9, 47%, 35%, 76% Bron got 1 more steal and Wade got 1 more block. Bron had 2 more turnovers. Sorry buddy, not seeing it. And that doesn't even account for defense, which PER also doesn't account for.
You are a fan of PER now? So you think LeBron was better in the playoffs last season that Kobe was for 9 of the seasons that he made the playoffs, since his PER of 23.7 was higher than 9 of Kobe's playoff seasons? Kobe's high in playoff PER is 26.8. LeBron has eclipsed that twice, including 08/09 when his PER was 37.4. Andrew Bynum had the same playoff PER as Kobe last postseason. He is just as valuable as Kobe? In 2010 Gasol had a higher PER in the regular season than Kobe. You sure you wanna rely on that?
Bill Russell had more rings than any other center, yet I have hard time considering him the unquestionable best, because of it. Offensively, he was league's behind Kareem, Wilt, Olajuwon, Shaq, and even much lesser centers, like Ewing, Robinson, Cowens, and players who aren't even in the hall of fame. I respect Bill Russell's accomplishment and basketball skill/IQ. He'd be over matched against alot of these other centers, as alot of them are somewhat comparable to Wilt in size and power. Additionally, many of these players have more offensive skills and move-sets than Wilt had. People do not seem to remember that Wilt dominated most of the individual match-ups against Russell, 28.7 ppg and 28.7 rebounds (to Russell's 23.7 ppg and 145). Moreover, Wilt had a couple of 60 point games against Russell, while Russell only managed to score over 30 against Wilt, 3 times. Bill Russell only won more matchups, because his rosters were composed to as little 4 to 8 Hall of Fame players in a given year. Very rarely did he ever best Wilt, individually. It's almost like saying Troy Aikman was a better QB than Dan Marino or Peyton Manning, because he won 3 Super Bowls. There's a context to everything. Sort of like LeBron, not playing the first half of his career for a strong franchise. The Cavs only mostly because of LeBron and good team defense. For most of Kobe's career, he's played on teams that were talented enough to contend from 97 - 04, and 07- present. You cannot tell me that those Laker teams were lacking in talent. With that point, I am not saying Kobe is inferior or lesser than LeBron. He's simply been on teams that were good enough to win or competitive beyond the star player.
Wade single handedly won a championship against a Dallas Mavericks team that was far and away superior to the Miami game. Wade was a Championship MVP with one of the greatest performances in NBA Championship history. This past season, Lebron who is playing with the superior talent could not seal the deal, but instead had one of the great all time disappearing acts by the (supposed) best player in the game on the biggest stage in the game. Lebron can't claim he no longer has help because that Miami team is as talented as any team in the league. The only thing to save Lebrons reputation is to win an NBA championship along with the MVP trophy.
I don't think LeBron is better than Kobe. I just think it's funny that the Kobe nuthugger wants to rely on PER to highlight Wade being better last season.
I am confident LeBron will be MVP this year. Kobe won't be able to keep up with him as the season wears on. This will put even more pressure on LeBron to close things out with a championship. He has a good chance.
