Monta can score the ball a lot more effecieantly from the floor, Kevin Martin's efficiency is because he tries to get so many fouls, and with that not being called it is dropping like a stone. Monta fits better than Kevin in that sense.... But I would prefer we get draft picks for him.....instead, we have enough talent to absorb the loss of Kmart. DD
We can all sit on here and argue about Monta Ellis vs Martin but I don't think McHale wants either one. I would guess that the players we go after with McHale as the HC are going to be more 2-way players with a defensive minded slant. Judging by Chandler taking Chases minutes, one way offensive players are not going to be the target anymore. With Adelman gone I think this makes sense. I like the idea of either one being the sixth man al la Ginobli but I don't think either would be happy in that role.

Martin can score from anywhere on the court while Ellis is more effective in the mid-range to paint. Both have lightning quick first steps, and Ellis is the better defender ... when he wants to play defense. As I have pointed out in the past, we must have players who can attack from the paint while others space the defenders out. That is why I have always supported Budinger over Morris. Morris needs to play closer to the basket than Bud and that impedes the offensive effectiveness of Scola and Dalembert. Parson can play inside or out, and that is why he has earned Bud's starting position. The same "packing the offensive paint" argument for the SF position holds true for SG. If we want a paint-packer, we can go with Terrence Williams, who is 6-6, makes about 1/4 of Ellis' salary, and, like Ellis, is more effective from mid-range to the paint. However, Williams has yet to prove he is truly an NBA starting caliber player. If Scola and Williams really are up for sale, then I hope we use them (and/or perhaps Dalembert) to get a young top five center. Otherwise, we are simply stuck in the mud spinning our wheels.
Ellis is better than Martin, but it would not make our team better, but if Ellis is valued more around the league it might make sense. DD
Montal Ellis is actually alot more effecient then people realize. I read an an article about it last year. Also he is a closer that can create his own shot. Basically he's a guy where his dominating the ball and scoring abilitys will actually affect the flow of game positively for the rockets. Where as Martins points are, always like that guy scored thirty? And he doesnt show up in the fourth. So yeah I would be intersted if the price was right. Personally I think KMart fits better with golden state and Monta fits better with the Rockets as with how both their rosters are built.
um....by what standard? Do you realize just how inefficient he is? Let alone the fact that he is -6.6 when he is actually on the court.... Yes he is explosive...but seriously?
I call total B.S. Why don't you look at his numbers ever since his usage rate went up. He is a very inefficient player. To say otherwise is to go against irrefutable evidence. Please don't say he would always affect the flow of the game positively for the Rockets. Statistically, he doesn't even come close to doing that on the Warriors.
While at first glance it might look like a wash between Martin and Ellis ..... Look again. Martin gets his points thru the offense .... He doesnt create shots for himself or teammates. Ellis is much more capable of creating shots for himself and others. That in itself is something this Rockets team has lacked since McGrady. Ellis is also the better defender and rebounder over Martin. Still not sure I'd make a deal for him .... Just pointing out there is more to the comparison than meets the eye.
Man F*** K-Mart, Ellis is an overall more consistant player than kmart. Ellis can run and make good looking layups while kmart makes all his drive in shots look ugly and stupid. I rather have Ellis. G-Lowry G-Ellis F-Chandler F-Scola C-Dalembert I like this line up, ellis will play alot better with KLow manning the point than curry who is more of a shooter. Oh and he had wayyyyy better D than kmart.
