he made 21 missed 18 he probably could have had the first 50-20 game in i wonder how long as it stands i bet his 40-20 game was probably the first since shaq. kind of crazy to think someone would go to the line that many times - he had more than twice as many free throws attempts as the entire Golden State team!!
Wow, 18 is a lot of misses. That's 9 baskets! I thought centers don't get foul calls, instead they're the ones being called foul on.
You should have seen Coach Jackson defending his strategy. He was trying so hard to give a hardass serious answer.
I wasn't watching the game, but recap says that the Warriors were fouling him intentionally. Also Howard is shooting a Ben Wallace like 45% from the line this season, much lower than his career percentage, which is 60% (which would make it a losing proposition to hack Howard intentionally going by his career percentage).
I was at the game... there was a stretch in the 2nd/3rd quarter where it seemed like he missed 10 free throws in a row... Then Mark Jackson pulls out the Hack-a-Howard and Dwight started making some. He totally dominated this game though. his awkward rolling hook shots were falling and when he got the ball deep enough his dropstep-spin-finish was pretty much automatic. GS had no answer for him. Mark Jackson is totally overmatched as a coach. They didnt double Howard at all, nor did they involve him in Pick n Roll situations to take him away from the basket on defense. Also it seemed like every chance he got coach Jackson wanted to be chatty with Dwight (during technical free throws, in between quarters, etc.). Maybe he's trying to woo him to come play in the Bay. Monta Ellis is a stud. Nobody could stay in front of him. He's the type of player that I wouldnt judge based on shooting percentages. All of his bad shot attempts came with the shot clock winding down off of broken plays. I thought he played really well tonight. David Lee was impressive too. I still think he's slightly overpayed but he has a good motor, he plays hard and he's actually a pretty decent scorer.
35 attempts is pretty impressive but he only made 21 so that means 18 missed free throws. As a suprestar and go to player you gotta be better. He has to improve that
Mark Jackson is NOT overmatched as coach. Mark Jackson is going to be a great coach and Golden State is an up and coming team. If they keep him and the front office in place, look for great things coming out of Golden State in the future.
