As I've said, points are a volume stat entirely based on usage. As everyone else has said, an 8 game sample size doesn't say much. However, Chris Paul at 7-10 is at least defensible so I will accept your personal definition of a superstar and your personal definition of overhyped and leave it at that.
OP why did you turn this into a Rose is better than Paul debate? Are you implying there can only be one player at each position who can be considered a superstar? If that's the case, one of Kobe or Wade is just an All-Star while the other is a superstar....
Let me clear this up. Rose>Paul>all other PGs. If you have such a tough time digesting this then so be it.
He averaged 22/7/11 on 55% shooting in the playoffs last year when his usage rate went back up around 25%. He's still got it. The Hornets' scheme and personnel changed a bit under Monty Williams last year and he was pacing himself in the regular season because he was coming back from the knee injury. With the Clippers he doesn't have to dominate the ball as much as he did under Byron Scott, and his per game stats are down slightly. He's still the same player. The burst is still there.
The only thing Rose is doing better than Paul this season is put up more shots. He shoots a lower percentage from the field, lower percentage from 3, gets no steals, turns the ball over more. All of this while Paul has to basically coach his own team. Paul > Rose and it's not a debate.
Rose is pure athleticism mixed in with very good PG skills. Paul is all skill and very little athleticism. Their games are totally different in how they play PG. From a pure PG perspective, Paul wins hands down. Rose does have the PG skills but I see him more as a scorer/combo guard compared to Paul. Both have the ability to dominate the game, but as far as controlling the game and making team mates better, I will give the edge to Paul.
If you want to debate that Paul is better than Rose fine........but to say that it isn't even debatable is absurd. Some of the fans on this forum need to grow up
Paul vs Rose is debatable. Proclaiming that Paul is not a superstar? That shouldn't have gotten more than a page of discussion. After having gotten enough reasons, as a last resort you had to invent your own standard to safe face and not admit you're wrong. I don't intend to enter a discussion because you'll always take the 5th so there's no point. I know why you are getting sour responses and that's because this thread should have ended three pages ago.
That is true. Chris Paul's teams are always at the BOTTOM of the league in team pace. The year Paul was injured, Hornets pace went from 28th to 15th ranked. Next year with Paul full season, down to 29th

I never said it has to be exactly 5.......my point was that I don't think there are 10 superstars in the league like some. My number is usually around 5.
