John Lucas III puts up Derrick Rose #s, maybe we should have gave him a start. I didn't know Johnny had it in him.

25 pts on 28 shots is decent, 1 of 7 from 3 not so much, but I can see D. Rose doing both, like when he went 4-17 for 13 pts vs Golden State with 1-8 from 3. Of course if Rose shot 28 shots, he would more than likely be over 30 pts, but this isnt Rose's first career start.

Also, he shot way better than any other starter, Deng 5-21, Boozer 2-7, Brewer 1-6, Noah 2-5

And how hard is it to get 8 ast when your team is shooting 36%.

No, it isn't. It's absolutely Antoine Walker Memorial volume shooter territory.

    PPS
    1.50+: Elite efficiency
    1.30: decent
    1.20 and below: poor
    1.10 and below: horrendous

He managed less than 1 point per shot. That's literally hurting your team.

I didn't watch any of it but from viewing the box score, it was a slopfest. Bulls were lucky they were playing the Wizards. If you hold a team to 31% from the field and 64 points, you better win even with JL3 at PG taking 28 shots. Luol Deng was 5-21 and the Bulls still won by 14. People who saw the game probably have sore eyes.

All that aside, it still is a notable performance and he deserves congratulations because of the tough road he's travelled. I like how Thibs takes a page from JVG in giving the opportunity to his old players, brings a paternal side to him.

Lucas also had a team-high 16pts against the Hawks a few nights ago.

He was actually going to play for Yao Ming's team like he did the past 2 years, but Yao ended up choosing a much cheaper player (Ryan Forehan-Kelly) instead.

Lucas didn't have a good shooting game, that's for sure. But I don't think PPS is a good measure because it ignores points from foul shots.

As an example, if someone (Dwight Howard) took 5 shots and scored 20 pts that would be a PPS of 4, when in reality 12 of the 20 pts came from free throws, which he only shot 12/20.

Apparently Lucas had no backup in the game because Mike James, who they just signed, didn't make it to Chicago in time.

Forehan-Kelly got injured and was replaced by Marcus Landry-- Carl's brother. It's all very incestuous.

No he made it there, but I'm sure Thibodeau didn't want to throw him out there for long minutes without any practice with the team.

Good to see Lucas have a big game, though. The 8 assists is very impressive. 28 shots is a ton, but he's known for getting shots up in a hurry.

No, it doesn't. PPS includes free throws. That's actually a critical component of the formula.

If a player can draw a foul and get 1-2 points off a non-FGA, it increases the likelihood that he can draw another foul if he is given the ball again. Over a large sample size, this bears itself out.

That's why Kevin Martin is wearing a Rockets uniform right now and why Marc Cuban was cursing that he "only" got Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood in 2010 instead of Martin.
