y'know, im starting to agree with you. even though Kd needs a good point guard, he NEEDS westbrook. He needs another scoring threat. I think people (myself included) are/were bagging on russel even though he's not supposed to be playing point guard position. i wonder if they will ever have a starting line up where russel is the starting 2 guard, and maynor is the starting one.
4 assists is pretty pathetic, and his average assists per game was down to 5.3 per game before today while his turnovers were up to 4 per game. Looks like he's regressed passing-wise. If he's making shots, they'll win. But if he's not...yikes.
Yep, pretty much. I watch the thunder a lot and let me see if we're on the same page about their team. KD needs westbrook the scorer as much as he needs westbrook the facilitator. Westbrooks seems to play better with harden in the lineup also. If kd was like wade, lebron, kobe, or guys like that, then I don't think westbrook the scorer would be as vital. Kd is more play finisher than play creator to me. This is why I think they really need westbrook especially late in games. Do he need to play better? For sure, but all these posters talking about what he isnt, should recognize what he is. He's a dynamic player for whom defenses have to account and he takes the heat off durant. Please feel free to add.
We are on the same page. KD needs WB the scorer because the Thunder wouldn't win nearly as many games otherwise. People have this notion that WB holds KD back when it comes to scoring, which is so silly. KD has won two consecutive scoring titles with WB as PG. How much more should he be scoring? I've asked that exact question in several threads and nobody has replied. What WB needs to do is return to the form he had last season that got him 2nd team all-NBA. He got off track in the playoffs and just needs to revert back. Last season, KD started the season slowly and several people here said WB was the better player. That was knee-jerk nonsense. This season, WB is starting slowly and is now "Westbrick". This is also knee-jerk nonsense from people who haven't watched the Thunder enough to know any better.
He's a great player. But he needs to be alongside a playmaking 2. Imagine Westbrook next to Iggy or Manu. Not that it would happen. I still say a Lowry type of PG on the Thunder would let that team really wreak havoc. Not that I'd want to give up Lowry.
I'd give them Lowry, Martin, Scola for Aldrich, a pick, Harden, and Westbrook. Although I doubt they do that.
He's a good player that puts up great stats. A great player does NOT have questionable shot selections/decision making.
Ummm....he has a teammate who's better, and needs to get some Derrick Rose out of his system. He's supposed to be Second Option. He plays like he thinks he's the first. The Thunder won't be able to pay all those guys, so I wouldn't be stunned if Westbrook winds up elsewhere. Still, teams rarely trade for addition by subtraction, i.e., "But we need more than one All Star!"
Yeah, they'd never give up Harden and Westbrook both. Harden's a punk with a 70's vagina on his scalp and another on his chin (for his sake, I hope the TSA people in the airports during the off-season are basketball fans, or he'd get tasered faster than you can say "but he looked suspicious"), but he's a talented punk.
You don't "think" they would? There is nothing to think about. OKC would not even consider it. This thread just got more insane than it already was.
I'm probably dreaming, but I think Lowry would fit in beautifully on OKC. Scola too. Westbrook/Aldrich for Lowry/Scola/fillers.
After Westbrook just last week tore into Houston's butthole in BACK to BACK games, still on the "Westbrick" thing?
In two games vs Rockets, Thunder starters OTHER than Durant + Westbrook, Thabo/Perkins/Ibaka scored 25 points COMBINED both games. (4 point/game each) Westbrook had that all by himself in one game. Yes they definitely need Westbrook to pour in some buckets.
