Great highlights as always, batkins. Thank you.

I haven't seen enough of Jones, so this was interesting. He really reminds me of McGrady in his build and outside shot form, but don't think he's as skilled. Listed at 6-foot-11 too.

And has he always been known as Perry Jones the third? Or is that just now more hip at Baylor?

Highlight mix from his time at Baylor:

if this guy can bulk up a little and be more physical in the post, he will grow into a dominant PF. With his length and versitility he'll be matchup hell.

From what I've seen, PJ3 is like a PF version of McGrady. He's bigger, less skilled and (though athletic) isn't the total freak McGrady was. One thing they have in common is softness. Neither guy likes a lot of contact. I'm very curious to see what happens to PJ3 now that the creampuff part of the schedule is over.

IMO, the best player (and NBA prospect) on that team may end up being freshman Quincy Miller.

I wouldn't be unhappy with any pick within the top 17 players.

What are the chances of Rox sucking enough to draft this guy?

    Fair.

He's been as high 5th, and as low as 13th in mock drafts.

According to nbadraft.net, his stock seems to be dropping FAST. Last time i checked Perry Jones profile he had an overall score of 98, and now it is 94( he doesnt even have a max potential rating anymore, it is now 9/10)

    I wouldnt want this guy

Why? Because some arbitrary score a website gave him dropped 4 points?

I've seen Jones play in person, and the way he plays isn't conducive to gaudy statistics. He's very team oriented, as are the rest of Baylors players. 5 Baylor players average double-digit scoring. Jones leads with 13 ppg shooting over 50% from the floor.

Baylor runs a zone defense to take advantage of the length and athleticism of the Acy/Jones/Miller frontcourt. Of course, its harder for defending teams to get rebounds in a zone. Jones leads the team with 7.3 rpg.

I'm basically saying that Jones could be putting up bigger numbers if he played elsewhere. He's a really nice guy that really buys into the team concept, and is quite talented. To me, it looks like he's sacrificing individual production to better the rest of the team. The only thing I haven't consistently seen from him is toughness or leadership. It looks like Quincy Acy/Pierre Jackson are the leaders of the team, and Perry is showing respect to the upperclassmen.

Either way, whatever Jones is doing seems to be working out for the team (for the most part). Baylor is undefeated at 16-0 which is awesome. I'd like to see Jones play all 4 years, cause it looks like he hasn't reached his full potential.

He showed pretty good leadership when he carried Baylor to the win against byu. That is a pretty hard road game.

Oh yeah definitely. He also had a good game against Kansas State. But there are other games (vs. West Virginia and Mississippi State) where he plays a more supporting role, or just isn't asserting himself. But I mean, He's a humble guy. Its good that he doesn't force things and play for himself. But sometimes you can't help but wish the guy would be a bit more selfish and demand the ball on the court, haha.

Well, skillwise, Jones has a way to go before he reaches Durant, or even Durant Lite.

He's shown flashes of talent that make you think: "Oh wow, thats a 6'10 guy leading a break, crossing his man up and throwing a no-look pass for a 3-pointer". Other times he'll appear timid and settle for fadeaway jumpshots from 18-feet. Both of these things happened in the Mississippi State game, which I think shows his potential brilliance, and shortcomings. This isn't to say he can't hit that fadeaway 18-footer. He totally can, and it looks awesome. I just wish he'd take guys off the dribble, or post-up (which he has shown the ability to do).

I don't know if Jones can become a Durant-type player. He can knock down 3's, but he hasn't taken near as many as Durant (not even close). I don't think Jones has NBA 3-point range right now (hope he proves me wrong). And where Durant would just regularly put up great offensive performances, Jones doesn't. Of course Durant was the man on his team, and UT scored a bunch of points. While Baylor has a more balanced attack.

Anyway, i'm just a guy in the stands. Not a pro scout or anything. So my opinion is just that. An opinion. Just calling it how I see it. Jones is a nice guy, and key part of the Baylor team, and I'm totally hoping he becomes the beast player he has the talent to become.

Perry Jones III doesn't compare well to KD at all. As a freshman at UT, KD displayed far more intensity, determination and leadership than Jones probably ever will.

Jones is very skilled and athletic, but I doubt he's a superstar in the NBA.

It's Paul George all over again. Good player, but not superstar worthy. Gotta have the mentality to be a star.

    Paul George is 6'11?

Perry Jones will be a star in the NBA. It might take some time but guys like him (can do it all) don't exactly grow on trees.
