Try to get in contact with some of the universities around town or the one you graduated from to see of any job fairs are coming up for people with a degree in your field.

I have never heard of your major before, but it sounds like you majored in the study of management. What industries typically hire people with your major? And have you been in touch with those companies?

Its basically an IT degree with some business classes.

To the OP, you might want to try cold calling some companies or start looking for some help desk positions to get your foot in the door.

I graduated last month in Houston with my BS in Healthcare Administration/ Minor in Public Affairs and have struggled to land anything myself. It's a bit disheartening, but I have faith that eventually I will get a chance :(

Look into taking some training. SAP/Oracle/Peoplesoft.

Consulting firms love MIS majors with any sort of ERP education.

MIS is one of the best degrees you can have right now. At UT the demand for them is amazing, and the starting salary has been soaring for the past decade. That said I'm surprised you're having trouble. People here are getting multiple offers while other majors can't get one.

The main market for MIS is consulting so I would look into that. Like the above guy said, ERP education is a big boost. And its tech so corporations always pick the younger guys. You shouldn't be worried about someone 20 years older.

There is definitely a surplus of opportunities though. Use friends to access their university portals and find opportunities. Also Austin is a major IT city, so I would look there.

Most guys with 20 years of experience are griping about all the jobs going to kids out of school. :) There are jobs out there. It's not like it was 15 years ago, but it sure as hell isn't as bad as it was about 3 years ago.

Maybe glenrice can hook you up in the hair gel business. It takes skill to sell hair gel so be ready.

You've only been on the job hunt for a month? That's nothing. Some people can take 6+ months. Don't worry, you just haven't run into yours yet. Be patient.

Don't you have any connections? Networks? Someone you can call up?

life is all about connections. don't be too proud to ask family or friends to help you get a foot in the door.
unless you were hand picked by a company out of school, your best bet is to work the network you have. and once you get into a market, do your best to make some connections that will last.

Look outside of California. The job market is a lot better in places like Texas.

Fake your resume, get a contract job that pays you alot by hour (they usually don't do BG check until you get a full position) gain your experience, gain your confidence, next you know people will be offering you jobs instead of searching... you stupid bum..
