Agreed. Really fatty food and a lot of sugar is also bad for a person we can also ban them. Weapons can also be bad for a persons health. There is no logical reason for mar1juana to be illegal (luckely here it isn't) when alcohol and sigarets aren't illegal.
Are you seriously of the opinion that "pot heads" have never done anything positive for our nation or the world? ETA: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9h414_bill-hicks-drugs-and-music_fun#rel-page-2
LOL - yes, yes I am...a bunch of laying on the couch, dorito munching, lazy slobs...... OK, for real, no...I was just clowing, I don't care if someone chooses to fire up the reefer madness......just stay off the roads when high. DD
Reefer may be the quasi-gateway(and that's only due to it's illegality), but alcohol is the "great enabler". From my personal experience, I never would have done half the crazy **** I did if I hadn't been under the influence of booze. The first time I tried pot, coke, speed, etc, I had been drinking. Take away the alcohol and the only thing I probably would have done is smoke a little love grass. here's another tidbit for the confused and uninformed.... Study: No lung danger from casual pot smoking/
It really isn't though. The gateway effect is increased through our terrible drug education that tells kids if they take drugs they will instantly turn into losers and addicts. Then after kids see their friend smoke and fail to die, they doubt all the drug education.
Gateway effect is amplified by current education. I think it exists without it as well though. Access to mar1juana usually means access to other drugs.
I love weed. I just wish that people stayed somewhere safe when they smoked it. I hate when people get high and go to public places. Plus walking around high as hell is a buzzkill anyway. When I do it (not so much these days), I usually stay home and watch something funny/interesting or play NBA 2K with some friends. Planet Earth is the **** when you're sober. When you're high, it's just on another level. EDIT- Another thing about smoking or drinking is, imo, if you're gonna do it, make sure you have your food/snacks beforehand. If I know I'm about to get plastered, I'll go grab some food ahead of time and keep it in the microwave til I'm ready to eat.
99% of the access I had to mar1juana was not accompanied by access to any other drugs. Not to say there weren't some people to go to for one stop shopping, but usually weed guys are weed guys in my experience.
That's a completely unjustifiable statement. mar1juana doesn't magically make other drugs appear anymore than alcohol creates access to cigarettes or vice versa, they're exclusive and independent of each other. Don't be silly. Besides, if mar1juana was legalized, how often do you think it would appear in conjunction with "other drugs"? (hint: likely never) Talk about mistaking correlation for causation. Even if it were true, it's not an argument against mar1juana, it's an argument against criminalizing mar1juana.
I like mar1juana. It helps me out during development stints late at night. I don't smoke it though, I vaporize (Not that it makes it any better, I just prefer the higher THC intake ). From my own personal experience, I have never done any other drugs besides pot. In fact, I don't even like to drink, and I typically only hit the vape when I am by myself. I do think it's quite stupid for people to be high in public and as someone else mentioned it is a bit of a buzzkill. I don't agree or disagree with anyone as everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to seem. I have good grades, going through with my education, have a nice professional job, and my life is fine. I do however have friends who smoke pot all day, and don't do a damn thing..
It seems justifiable when I see tons of drug busts with x pounds of mar1juana, 1K tabs of ecstasy, kilos cocaine etc. I am sure there are low level dealers that only deal mar1juana but whoever supplies them can likely get other stuff. After all there is no reason for someone dealing ecstasy or coke or ketamine to NOT deal mar1juana. I would counter that people who use and deal others drugs also use and deal mar1juana.
Also I am not arguing for stricter laws on mar1juana or arguing against the decriminalization of it. I just think to call the "gateway" thing a total fallacy is sticking your head in the sand.
Take a look at any group of people, whether they use one, many or absolutely zero drugs and you will find people who live functional lives and those who sit around and do nothing. It's not the drugs, it's the individual who lets things get out of hand. Just because some can't handle using responsibly doesn't mean that everyone can't.
