Weak as usual. That's a load of propagandist hooey. I think pot has a lot of health benefits and is a much safer recreational drug than any other -- waaaaaaaaay safer than alcohol by any standard. I still think it's unhealthy to use recreationally. I'm quitting it this week. Then I will be 100% sober and my worst vices will be caffeine and the nicotine I get from e-cigs. The e-cigs are next on my list though nicotine may be a habit I'll just never be able to break; the concentration issues may just be too great for me to overcome. I've been told by my doctor that, given my use and medical history, I can expect those issues would probably last more than a year where for most people it would be a couple months max. Back on topic: pot's not good for most people but it is insane that cigarettes and booze are legal and pot isn't. Alcohol is more dangerous than all illegal drugs combined.
Ps- I'm all for cannabis decriminalization and for medical, it's significantly less harmful than Caffeine or Alcohol. It's got its good benefits. But I laugh at people that straight up deny it's bit harmful effects (memory impairment) and deny it's addictiveness (very very low but still, people deny it).
I dream of a day when you can walk down the street smoking a joint open to all, and hookers can wear price tags.
Cannabinoid receptors are activated by a neurotransmitter called anandamide. Anandamide belongs to a group of chemicals called cannabinoids. THC is also a cannabinoid chemical. THC mimics the actions of anandamide, meaning that THC binds with cannabinoid receptors and activates neurons, which causes adverse effects on the mind and body. High concentrations of cannabinoid receptors exist in the hippocampus, cerebellum and basal ganglia. The hippocampus is located within the temporal lobe and is important for short-term memory. When the THC binds with the cannabinoid receptors inside the hippocampus, it interferes with the recollection of recent events. THC also affects coordination, which is controlled by the cerebellum. The basal ganglia controls unconscious muscle movements, which is another reason why motor coordination is impaired when under the influence of mar1juana.
Wait, what? I can promise you that if I go home and do meth, crack, and heroin tonight, I will have done much more damage to my body than a relatively similar quantity of alcohol, and I will have barely scratched the surface of the illegal drugs available to me.
I've smoked it. It relieved my anxiety and depression better than any legal medications I've taken in the past that were far worse for me physically. This is anecdotal evidence but I think it's a lot safer a drug than alcohol or cigarettes. The worst side effects I've ever had from pot are I get sleepy and get an increased appetite. Oh no! All that said I would be content never taking the drug again. I don't really have an addictive personality so maybe that helps.
gateway to your mind. nope. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OPu6oJz88kw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
People who choose to ignore scientific evidence, perhaps, but nobody who has actually studied the issue.
Yes, the people who have attempted to prove the "gateway" myth are biased and their results are inconclusive, as discussed in the article.
