There are some minor things I'm worried about... For our defense: 1. Dickson - he's a talented pass-catcher and a tough cover. We struggle against the big, athletic tight ends, he's underrated. 2. Smith - we have to man-up against Smith. You blink and he'll have a 40 yard reception. Those two guys could kill us with 1-2 timely big plays, or they Flacco might find them consistently and bury us early. For our offense (Yates): 1. Not Ngata & Suggs - I'm not worried about the Ravens' two best players. I trust our line and Yates' ability to avoid pressure. The players I'm concerned about are Reed & Webb. Reed will bait Yates into throwing a bad pass and Webb is a hawk when he's on the field.
lol Wyoming is the closest to routing for the texans with 32% (not including texas, duh). I think we are underdogs, but I think people are favoring Baltimore because they don't watch much Texans, and/or they think we are too injury riddled to win. I don't blame anyone for choosing Bal, it makes me more comfortable going in to the game that we don't have any expectations from the media, we are a good team, we are capable of winning, we have made it this far, now just go out and play hard. If AJ keeps his hammies good all game he will draw just enough attention to get the running game moving (at least more than last time). Yates, hold on to the ball, don't force anything, but Kubiak has to let him throw down field occassionally. Defense stay humble, stay hungry, get to the quarterback like he has your mother held hostage and he's the only one with the basement key. I am uber excited, yah UBER excited about this game! Go Texans, and Go Rockets!
CRAP!!! We got Morelli and his crew for the game on Sunday =( He was the one who overturned the NYJ fumble call against the Giants in Week 16 with terribly inconclusive video evidence. At the time it made me think that they were trying to keep the Jets in the game... a really shady call, or at worst a really bad judgement. They also made some other calls that were bad as well, I'd love to see what their grade was for that game. Here's to hoping that they make mistakes in our favor! <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b93u-sP3DFs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/playoffodds Giving us a not shabby 1 in 3 chance in Baltimore Sunday and 2 in 13 chance to make the SB. I think that's very fair. They really like NE's chances and give them virtually even odds against GB for the championship. I just don't want a clown crew that calls Watt wrapping up a QB around the waist roughing the passer.
I cannot wait for this game. Andre has to draw major double coverage for our running game to control the game. We need our defense fresh to make plays!
Looks like we had Morelli earlier on this year against Oakland. I'm going to re-watch the game and post my grades. Hopefully the NYG/NYJ game was an aberration for his crew. Here are the games that he worked: Wk 1 - New England at Miami Wk 2 - Arizona at Washington Wk 3 - OFF Wk 4 - Tennessee at Cleveland Wk 5 - Oakland at Houston Wk 6 - Carolina at Atlanta Wk 7 - Green Bay at Minnesota Wk 8 - OFF Wk 9 - NY Giants at New England Wk 10 - Detroit at Chicago Wk 11 - Arizona at San Francisco Wk 12 - Miami at Dallas Wk 13 - St. Louis at San Francisco Wk 14 - Oakland at Green Bay Wk 15 - Tennessee at Indianapolis Wk 16 - NY Giants at NY Jets Wk 17 - Kansas City at Denver
IIRC, the NFL playoff crews are selected based off of their performance ratings during the season. The Super Bowl crew ends up being the "All Pro" officials. The dingleberries that did things like botch Yates' "fumble" in the ATL game and upheld it under review aren't likely to be assigned as January goes along.
Crazy how I keep running into Texans players this week lol. Demeco Ryans just showed up to a shopping strip in Pearland. Braman last month, Cushing this sunday, Demeco today. At this pace, Tim Dobbins is next... Moe
Texans 23 Ravens 20 Overtime thriller. Foster runs havoc this time (same thing with the Bengals, who stopped him the first time) and nets two receiving touchdowns. Rackers wins it in smooth fashion by kicking an extremely long (that's what SHE said) field goal. ¡¡¡VAMOS, TEXANS!!!!! ARRRGHHH... I had already forgotten about those )^#)&%^#$% calls vs. Indy...
Swoly, you make a good point. People forget that Foster openly talked about how badly he played that game and that it would not happen again. He basically was not focused, couldn't hold onto the ball in the passing game, and struggled to even keep his footing at times. I think that game was the perfect storm of our defense struggling, running back struggling, and Flacco having a superb game all at once. I like our odds this week. Moe
Or the....ugh....Atlanta Braves. I believe between 1997-2005 the top 3 teams in baseball as far as winning percentage were us, the Yanks, and the Braves. But that was then, this is now. Looking forward to an upset this weekend. Actually, two upsets would be sweeter. I'd be buying a ticket to Houston on Sunday afternoon.
I'm nervous about this game, but there is a little confidence in me that we can pull this one out. It's Tuesday, and you know what that means! Another episode of 'On the Nose' with Shaun Cody http://www.houstontexans.com/tv-med...ody-Diva/5dafc114-398c-4bcf-895b-4f2740cb55c7 Houston 24 Baltimore 17 I really hope Connor Barwin makes big plays. I feel he's been quiet the past couple of weeks.
