I really like the looks of the 900. I'm still contracted to AT&T ( have a galaxy nexus through work w/ verizon), so I'm looking at replacing my iPhone 4. I've been considering a Windows phone due to their functionality. The Sony Xperia looks incredible though. I'm not really sold on WP7 either, considering I left iOS due to how closed it is. (I don't like being told what I can and can't do with my phone) As a gamer though, I'm really in love with the Xbox Live functionality. Lots of choices = consumer wins.

What phone do you have at the moment? Lumia 900 won't be coming out anytime soon. Maybe in another couple of months.

I've been waiting for the Nokia phones to get here for a long time. Been rocking the Dell Venue Pro for a while and holding out for the Nokia. I love Windows Phone, and I'm not just saying that because I have to ;). It really is a fantastic mobile OS and unlike anything else out there. My wife got the Samsung Focus S last month and loves it.

iphone 4: had it for about a year now. had the 3gs for 2 years before that.

seems like he was half right so far..so I guess it's coming out in March but that's cutting it close to Apollo.

I have a feeling Nokia and ATT cut an exclusive deal for 3-6months..and we will only see CDMA nokias with the release of the next upgrade.

Do your work for msft? Otherwise why would you say that. While windows mobile might have had its issue at least it wasn't locked down. Windows phone is pretty fast for the hardware it runs on, but its time Microsoft stopped trying this me 2 strategy with apple. If they had just released a more open platform with their development tools I think it would have taken off.

No one make better development tools that microsoft IMO.

That's why I'm willing to wait for another 6 months. I've been waiting for years and haven't given in just yet. Just learning from the past how technology picking up pretty fast. I'm going to wait to see Apollo or WP8 is going to offer before I made my decision. I don't want to buy into WP7 and find out WP8 OS won't be supporting WP7 upgrade. I feel no rush into getting a phone anymore because I don't have much use for it since I'm constantly near a computer and have a tablets.

windows phone hasn't taken off because

    1. people are confused between the old win mobile and the new 7.5. a lot of smart phone owners who hated winmo 6.5 switched ships to iOS or android..and it's gonna take a lot to get them back.

    2. there's no carrier support for windows phone right now. ATT was all over the iphone for the last 5 years. verizon went full force on android..and that's why your average joe knows what "droid" means.

    3. there's no quality phones. most phone makers are enjoying the freedom with android and flood the market with them. except verizon and tmobile had only 1 phone that had windows on it!

Yeah, only been there about 6 months. I came to WP7 from a Blackberry, which was the only "smart" phone I'd ever had. That was a pretty dramatic change that took some getting used to, as pretty much anything other than email was a massive chore on the blackberry.

I think their main problem was releasing Mango too early with little supports in the mid of iOS and Android dominating the market. They try to create an OS that was totally different from iOS and Android while people were a bit more familiar with Android because of the iOS popularity. I mean I'm pretty sure people got lost while playing with the WP7 Mango and didn't like the Metro UI. Another thing is that I'm pretty sure Microsoft never really pushes the WP7 until recently because they just finished a more polish Mango 7.5 and more apps support. They are pushing hard now because they now have Nokia as their primary phone.

but say if you walk into verizon or sprint..why would go to the back where you MIGHT see one working windows phone..that looks like crap compared to your iphone, droids..galaxy nexus etc..

even i wouldn't do that. and i actually want to buy one.

I like WP7 the most out of all the OSes, the problem is that it came out too late behind Android. By the time WP7 launched carriers were already deep into Android. I don't think it will ever take over as Google and Apple are too big/smart to let Microsoft dominate the mobile field.

The Lumia looks fantastic and I would be very happy if that were my next phone.
