Don't know how much truth there is to the rumor, but thought I'd put it out there. If it was just Martin and Scola, it would definitely be a good trade.

Even if he doesn’t want to be here, he’d give us size and added defense. Martin is really not producing lately.

I would rather rebuild than take two guys obviously declining on long-term contracts that would cripple the franchise.

There aren't that many good big man like Gasol in the league. I would still go with it. Gasol looks like a professional to me so I think his discontent will go away after a short while.

As much as I love those guys, Scola's age is showing and Martin isn't producing the numbers he had last year. Gasol is still dominant. This also gives patpat some more playing time. We have too many good players as it is and we need to give them playing time. If we don't have to give our draft pick for this trade, why not?

Can you win a championship if Gasol is your best player? That should answer your question.

Can you even make the playoffs with Scola/Martin as your 1-2 punch?

I guess Martin and Scola have been answering that for the past two years and couple more years to come.

What this trade helps do is gives more play time to Lee and Pat, shows Lee we want him to resign with us instead of him going else where for higher dollars.

At this point I'd rather we just suck for the year and get a good draft pick or clean house for a Dwight Howard rental.

It definitely sucks in a huge way that we're this hopeless this early. I never imagined we'd be this terrible. Made worse by the fact that our guys look like they're already quitting.

we only want him as an excuse to brag how great Morey is.

It is a commonsense that if Gasol was a Rocket we are contending now.

Yes, because it would have been a band aid and we would have been 3 years away from being where we are today.

Glad or not, getting Gasol in that trade just makes the rockets to be a mediocre team for other three years. As for getting Nene, the chance to have him was not high even if we had Gasol. I just do not see a big reason for Nene coming here when his current team is better and he can have a longer contract.

I was pissed when it was vetoed then, and I'm really pissed about it now.

Scola, Martin, and Dragic is a small price to pay for a legitimate shot at Nene + Gasol.

IMO this is why i think morey wanted to trade for gasol...

Gives us an established, decorated and proven big... even if he is turning the corner towards the end of his career...

Opens up playing time for 2pat and Lee...

Makes it easier to tank IMO...

Looking forward to free agency we would still have room for possibly 2 max contracts...

Superstars(howard and d.will) would like houston more because we already have a decent all-star and decent role players...

Now i hated this trade proposal when it was first approved and was exstatic when it got denied by stern... but with time i have sat back and realized that it would be a smart and great trade...Although i have this stance more on the legs of the new rumors of lakers getting howard instead of paul...because we would keep our draft picks...

So imagine we get gasol and of course he is uninterested because he is upset and is on a team that isnt that good... we take a while to figure out chemistry and what not.. in the meantime we work our way into a top 8 draft pick(if not better) and also have (hopefully a lottery but unlikely) knicks draft pick...with howard in LA d.will has no chance to be with him (although who knows since its the lakers) we can lure him to houston...granted dallas has the better shot since thats his hometown... we could still grab a couple really good free agents to grow and build around our (hopefully future all star) draft pick...

We draft jeremy Lamb(SG) and potentially both second rounders and knicks first to move up a few spots to get meyers leonard (C)

We sign gerald wallace (SF) Micheal Beasley (PF) via free agency

    we re-sign dragic,lee,t.williams

    look something like this

    Lowry/dragic
    Lee/Lamb/t.williams
    Wallace/morris/t.williams
    Patterson/beasley/motiejunas
    Gasol/Leonard/motiejunas

Trading for Gasol and signing Nene would

    1. not make us a contender

    2. postpone a necessary rebuild

We would have been a second round and out team for the next three years. No thanks.
