http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401729/ I read the whole series as a youngun and have been looking for the books cannot find them anywhere. This could be a great movie series, the books were FANTASTIC, I will keep my fingers crossed.
The first I heard about it was that Robert Ridriguez was going to direct it and that Harry Knowles from Aint It Cool News was going to be a co-producer. Then Rodriguez left the Director's guild in a tiff over giving Frank Miller co director credit on Sin City and couldn't direct this because it was a studio that had an agreement that only guild directors could do it. Looks like Pixar has it now.
I am interested in which direction this movie could go I think it would be great if it was shot like the Lord of The Rings movie in Epic fashion.
Thanks man I will check it out, I also want to buy the hardback series but I think they are collectors items now.

Look totally disappointing and totally unimaginative and pure mediocrity. Growing up loving Frazetta takes on this world and hoping that this will be a fantastic looking world but instead they decided to turn it into a mediocre planet shot right out of Arizona. Another worst thing is that it's from Disney.

I'm kinda excited about this movie. I didn't read the books and have no expectations at all. Not real happy that Disney is involved. They have the uncanny ability to really F things up sometimes (movie-wise).
I don't care who it's from, but I agree... the trailers I saw made it look like they are going to ruin a good thing.
4 minute preview. Looks pretty cool. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6xBaGv5bx0Q?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6xBaGv5bx0Q?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> I was thinking how the actor is pretty bland then Disney popped up. Makes perfect sense- looks like one of their child actor Disney channel drones all growed up. He was also the forgettable Gambit in the horrid Wolverine movie.
It is done by the guy who did finding nemo and wall-e which are both great movies so there is a good chance it is good. I guess they owed the guy, but they will have spend close to 300mil on a movie franchise that is based on a 100 year old book which hasn't been relevant in a while.
