With enough time and patience, he could eventually become a starter on the Vipers. Dikembe of the D-league.
He looks like he gets tired after one run back the length of the court. I'm not sure which is the bigger mistake: Memphis drafting him #2, or us not amnestying him when we had the chance. So here we are, hoping the sleeping giant will wake up.
Thabeet is destined to be traded in March as an expiring contract to a team like the Warriors who want to give him a look at signing him for cheap this summer. However, once early February rolls around you will see Thabeet get some spotty minutes here and there. Teams who are interested in trading for him will want to see him on the court a tad bit and McHale will play ball with Morey in the GM office.
I agree we should play Thabeet tonight. If not, we might beat the Bobcats, hurting our draft position.
He came off the bench for the first 5 years of his HOF career and won the 6th Man of the Year award twice. He was on the NBA All-Defensive First or Second Team six times. He blocked 9 shots in a single game. Twice. Kids today....sheesh...
he needs to show it first in the practice. if he's not getting minutes that simply means he sucks big time there.
Unleash meaning let him go ? I feel sorry for the guy, he started playing basketball too late and the NBA is unforgivable, you will never see him develop since he will not get the opportunity. This is mainly due to him being the 2nd pick and expectations are high, in his case way too high. He should have never been drafted this high.
ESPN.com has him listed at 263. He's shown at UConn for 4 straight years he can walk and chew gum at the same time, unlike a ton of other bust 7 footers. I'm not understanding why he can't get in the game at all. I wonder if Dream and Deke have had conversations/practices with him. Damn I miss Yao.
I always find it funny how GARM posters feel, "we need to play scrub X and see what he can do"...as if that's the way to unlock a mystery. Reality is, the staff and players see him in practice every week. If they saw flashes that he could make a difference, they'd give him the shot. If they see a waste of a roster spot, they smartly stash him in a broom closet. Just because YOU haven't seen definitive proof that a guy is awful doesn't mean that it's a 50-50 prospect.
What about when you have seen a definitive proof that a guy is awful, such as Jordan Hill and Dalembert. It makes you wonder as a fan about the other tall fella. Plus the few times Thabeet was on the floor, he was better than both- just saying
Why use the amnesty on someone making 5 mil a year especially when his contract is gonna expire soon. Now if you trade for a player like Howard, you can use the amnesty on Turkoglu, or for John Wall- amnesty on Rashard Lewis. Do you see where i'm going with this?
Hasheem looks slow and awkward on the court. He will never play 30 minutes in the NBA because he would foul out in 20...
Yeah, it's really just a problem with his confidence. It has nothing to do with the fact that he has no NBA skills whatsoever.
