I've decided my Gen 1 Galaxy S Captivate is doing just fine on the MIUI Rom. You ppl and your new Galaxy Optimus Prime phones...
My new Galaxy Optimus Prime Phone has MIUI V4 (ics based) available for it MIUI is pretty spectacular, next to CM7, and Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast AOSP builds
http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/sprint-gets-4g-lte-and-galaxy-nexus-its-official/ Galaxy Nexus is official on Sprint, and it will ship with Google Wallet
Meh. No 4G in Austin + Sprint quality service and support (or lack thereof) = still glad I went with Verizon. Although, I guess I am glad that it will expand the dev base.
The new Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket HD (geez am I playing streetfigher?) phone looks to have some awesome specs. This is the hardware that I was hoping the galaxy nexus would have. . http://gizmodo.com/5874416/samsung-galaxy-sii-skyrocket-hd-massive-phone-massive-name-massive-specs
It's the same phone with (arguably) a better processor. You could also argue that the camera will be better, but I've been enjoying how quickly the Nexus camera takes pictures. Taking action shots on an iphone = futility. As for the actual quality of the camera, it's been pretty good. It isn't perfect though. Like I said, same phone but on AT&T. If anything I'm looking at the Xperia S/Ion, now THAT is a phone.
Almost the same specs IMO. The TI Omap 4460 can be clocked at 1.5 ghz. Same screen size too. Definitely not a bad phone though
It's definitely the Exynos processor and the 8mp camera that give it that little extra oomph. I'm happy with my GN with just stock ICS. Definitely don't want to go back to gingerbread. It's definitely satisfying my needs but there is a part of me wondering why the camera isn't up to par with the rest of the samsung galaxy SII line. Probably google's decision??
I think it has to do with the software and how the phone takes instant pictures. That's just my guess though. Yeah, playing with Gingerbread after playing with ICS is brutal lol. I also don't want to go back to hardware keys. I like the on screen software buttons like on the Nexus. I didn't read enough into the new Skyrocket to see if it had NFC, but I imagine it does
I feel even worse for the people on AT&T that bought the original GS II and then bought the skyrocket only for this one to come out. Such is the life with technology but geez with the same phone line within a few months? NFC Beam has been awesome. My friend never thought he'd use it but everytime he comes by I beam something to him and he agrees it's very convenient. Wallet has been hit and miss. So far it's only worked for me at mcdonald's. Jack in the boxes and CVS's have been problematic causing my app to crash and having to restart the phone. I confirmed it wasn't the phone as my friend with his GSM GN can't pay either.
Yeah, it's pretty terrible. It seems to only be on AT&T though. Other carriers have stuck with their standard GS2 (T-mobile and Sprint did get a white version though) NFC Beam is legit, but I think the use of NFC tags are even better. I highly recommend uninstalling Google Wallet. When you do, be sure to "clear wallet settings" in the application. The reason why I recommend uninstalling is because Wallet authenticates to Google servers, and puts applets in your secure element (part of the NFC chip and is encrypted) . If for some reason it fails, or if you switch roms or factory reset your device, it can lock you out of your secure element. It will pretty much bork your phone Do not worry though, obviously you are fine now. If any of you guys who have root access and have the Android SDK installed, in a few pages back I listed the ADB shell broadcast command to remove the Google Wallet reference from your NFC chip's secure element. http://rootzwiki.com/_/articles/secure-element-error-locking-users-out-of-google-wallet-r280
In my opinion that was partially the fault of people who didn't educate themselves on the GS2 when it came out. It was 6 month+ old technology when it was released in the US. Also GS2 wasn't even on sale in Houston and other LTE markets due to the Skyrocket coming up. I basically never make a large purchase without doing a good bit of research, hasn't failed me yet. I haven't had a chance to use Beam, all the people I know with Gnex I met on G+ (or here). Since Wallet technically isn't even supposed to work on Gnex I can't complain about it. With that said, once I got it up and running it's been flawless. There are only a hand full of stores I've been able to use it at, but it's never crashed or not worked. I've used it primarily at CVS (most stores just don't have the correct speedpass tech).
True that. However, I think most people who did research and got the SkyRocket were not anticipating the SkyRocket HD lol Whenever I used wallet it worked perfectly for me at CVS, and McDonalds. I couldn't get it to work at Jack though. Oh, and I think you meant to put "pay pass". Don't try using this at Mobil or Exxon with "speed pass" lol
