Living in Miami I'm a huge fan of festivals, I'll be going to Ultra this for my 4th year in a row. (btw if any clutchfans are making the trip for Ultra this year lmk, lineup is also amazing [tickets are 98% sold out fyi]). But I created the thread for a much bigger, better, diverse, massive festival. Coachella 2012. The lineup this year is so stacked up the ass... that I'm considering flying up to Cali (from Miami) for the week. I was wondering if any of you were planning on going this year? Well here's the lineup.
Dr. Dre and Snoop? What is this 2002? Dre hasn't released anything in years, hope it means Detox will FINALLY drop before April then...
Going to Ultra, I'm freaking psyched. Wish I could go to Coachella too there are a good amount of people I would like to watch.
Oh **** ... fIREHOSE. Goddamnit, I hate these massive douchetastic festivals. I especially hate them when they have bands I really want to see. **** those people.
Really would love to go to this, I think I could scrape the money together, but doubt I could get anyone to go with me. Pretty amazing line-up though. Bit disappointed with the headliners (I don't really care to see Dre/Snoop and I like the Black Keys, but they play EVERYTHING, plus they played last year) but the bottom part is great Really really really want to see Pulp. At the Drive-In and Refused are awesome gets too. The Weeknd hasnt done many shows yet either. And I'd love to see Jeff Mangum. gah
Would love to see Black Lips, Madness, the Shins, Beirut, M83, Radiohead, Deerhunter, Squeeze, Buzzcocks, fanfarlo, James, the Hives, and Cat Power. I have some interest in seeing Andrew Bird, The Big Pink, The Horrors, Mazzy Star, We Were Promised Jet Packs, and Justice. But I don't think I'm up for spending huge bucks for the crappy conditions of camping out with a bunch of other slobs, crappy restroom situation, $5 for a small bottle of water, hassle getting food etc. If I somehow scored a place to say right there, I'd be all over it. There's a ton of stuff I'd be really interested in seeing.
Apparently I have a place to stay if ever I want to go. The lineup might excite me if it was one weekend, but not much spread out over two.
Dude, it's the same show 2 weekends in a row. Separate events. You don't actually have to hang out there for a full 2 weekends I've been the last 4 years but I'm kinda meh on this lineup right now. I already got tickets on the layaway deal though, so may I'll come around to it.
Deerhunter isn't playing...it's "the Dear Hunter." I got excited about that at first too Also, you don't HAVE to camp. I haven't camped at any of them. We usually get a place that is a 15 min drive away, and get to enjoy the pool, shower, and air conditioner that comes along with it. I'm way too old to camp . That's also mainly why I always go to Coachella and not something like Sasquatch or Bonnaroo, because you pretty much do have to camp at those. Also, water is very affordable. I think a bottle of water is $2, or if you turn in 10 empty bottles they give you a free one.
Lineup is insane, too bad it's right at the beginning of Finals. Let's hope ACL can be a fraction as badass this year.
if you booked it now you should be able to get a hotel. i went in 2004 and camped and it was horrible - it was in a city park situated on a dirty lake - it was all dirt (b/c its the desert) and there were these tiny sliver-sized stickers that got in all your clothes, tent and sleeping gear. the sun comes up around 6:30 and by 7 you are baking in your tent. i believe they moved the camping to the actual polo grounds so at least its in grass now and closer, but i still would never camp there again. the b**** of it is that i had booked us a hotel in palm springs w/ a pool and the others decided camping would be the better option since we would be closer and it would save money. it was closer and we did save money, but after being at coachella all day a pool, hot shower and cold a/c would have been soooooo very nice. its a very well run festival though and worth checking out. i was going to go in 2005 when cocteau twins were supposed to play, but then they backed out so i didnt want to go.
Not too impressed with the lineup. Possibly one of the weakest they have had in the past few years. Never thought I would see Black Keys headlining an event.
