It is hard to guage Bama's defense when LSU's offense is so fricken bad.....

The SEC is just not as good as the national media makes them out to be, they are 2 teams and a bunch of others....

    Same as the Big 12....

BTW - Big 12 has best bowl record out of the major conferences....

A&M can compete with everyone not named Bama and LSU, just like the Big 12...that is pretty much what they can expect.

    You counting Mizzou/A&M in that?

    What about WVU?

The MAC and CUSA both went 4-1, hell of a lot better than they normally do.

    I said major conferences....

And yes, I was counting Mizzou and A&M as they were Big 12 members this year.

Agreed I hate when people bring up team stats and compare them to teams in other conferences..Okiestate is like #100 in defense would they be that bad in the Big 10 or SEC?

Penn State ranked #5 in defense got rolled by UH.

LSU/ Bama definitely have a great defense but is inflated by playing in a run run pass punt conference...

Figured you were going to say that.

Just so you know, the two "major conference" teams that played CUSA in bowl games this year got their asses kicked.

With the worst coach in the SEC since sylvester croom how can he miss. Sumlin is going to get crushed.

What is their record in BCS bowls? Terrible?

Wrong. A&M will get pounded. Wrong conference for them with the wrong coach.

Arkansas handled the Big 12's 2nd best team.

They did, but it was a competitive game, at least. Far more interesting than the crap we had to endure last night.

it may be inflated by the types of offenses but it is not inflated in terms pure talent, speed and athleticism.

They may be fast and strong on offense, but they're about as skilled as a doorknob. Can't throw, can't catch, can't scheme...

It was an ugly game, btw and LSU clearly had a bad game while Bama came to play. Bama is the better team though. I was hoping LSU would prove that they could beat Bama without having their kicker completely choke...well they couldnt.

But, even though it was an ugly game I laugh at those that still think the SEC isn't the best conference and that these two teams weren't the best.

OKST could/would have been there but they choked by losing to Iowa freaking state.

Georgia, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Auburn will consistently be better than A&M and will compete for national titles regularly.

The Big 12 has Oklahoma and Texas, and then a mixed bag of other teams being occasionally good.

Sam said it best; what did Alabama prove OOC? Their biggest OOC win was beating a Penn State team that ended up unranked. LSU actually did some damage OOC, which is why I was fine with them being national champs. The only skins Bama put on the wall were from its own conference, a conference that they couldn't even win.

This wasn't a national title game, this was an exercise in futility. Thanks, BCS!

That allowed 300+ rushing yards to Georgia.... SOUTHERN.

    http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=313230333

It's funny how SEC clamoring about the best defense when:

-Bama allows the most pts of the season to Georgia Southern.
-LSU allows the most pts of the season to WVU and Oregon.

SEC: great defense, or atrocious offense? Something for people to chew on.

but why do you have to prove even more out of conference when your conference wins are already better than any other teams?

I agree, it's not pretty but it's what we are stuck with and even though we don't like how they got there, I really don't see how you can argue with the end result, i.e. Bama/LSU are better than everyone else.

U don't really see the point...even great defenses give up yards and points from time to time.
