No he wasn't. He was great at being really tall and really physically imposing at UConn. Calhoon basically had him stand underneath the basket and swat everything in his sight. He never was a basketball player. I mean, suck at basketball. But put me with a bunch of 5th graders and I'd still dominate.
Why not, give him a shot and see how long he can go without passing out. That said, two issues that concern me a great deal about Thabeet... 1) So far in the season we have had a taste of Howard, Gasol, Bynum and Jordan...I don't think he has seen the floor or been active for any of those matchups. Not sure what he's doing in practice but if he isn't getting playing time against true centers, not sure when he could. 2) He did get about 6 1/2 mins of garbage time against the Clips and had 1 REBOUND. That simply won't cut it or should inspire any confidence in Hasheem.
Really? Well you learn something new every day! I don't exactly get to keep up with much of the D-League over here in England, they don't even show NBA games let alone D-League stuff.
Mchale wasnt a utility player himself..I dont remember him being a dominant force on both ends either. So he should give Hasheem a chance.. Hasheem seriously can block shots and rebound. Jordan Hill isn't much of a loss on offensive end anyway.
BimaThug said the new CBA allows third year players to be sent down. The Rockets must have just given up on Thabeet completely if they're not doing it.
If he were to get cut and no other team picks him up, then I think he can sign with a D League team, but im not 100% sure. That looks like a possibility if he doesn't show any signs of progression.
Post up moves shmost up moves. Please. No the guy should not see the court. He's terrible! Just because the Rockets arent good or arent going anywhere isn't a good enough reason to just throw him out there. Why not Greg Smith then? Why not Omar Samhan? Why not Marcus Cousin? On and on...The guy is terrible and is lucky to still be on the roster.
It is very likely that bosh Hashim and Jordan are gone in the near future unless both turn into rebounding machines ...that is very unlikely
with the right attitude he could be a good player. the question is, does he want it or not? he runs kind of funny and moves awkward. he doesn't fully extend his arm on his hook shot which would make a huge difference. i don't know, maybe he's just hard headed. maybe he just doesn't have any heart. it just doesn't make sense to me that someone that tall (7'3) that also has hops can't be a good player. he's passing up a huge opportunity. if he just had the fire and passion someone like chuck he would be unstoppable. i hope i'm wrong but i just think he's content with using his big rookie contract to shop at the mall.
If he isn't getting the opportunity to play some decent minutes and given some consistent play in game time situation, not just the garbage time, no one has the right to pass judgement, yet. Imagine Thabeet is given an opportunity with another team and ends up being a Beast? Give the Kid a chance, a real chance, see what he has to offer, then pass judgement.
