Now here is a sexy phone from the company that put Nortel out business and making life miserable for Cisco and Alcatel Lucent. http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/huawei-outs-super-thin-ascend-p1-s-raised-entirely-on-fruit-and/
lol. I was just about to post this. I like. Plus it's penta-band Don't let Hauwei fool you, they have a lot up their sleeves. They were the first manufacturer to put up a beta build of ICS for it's customers. I would say this is better than the Razr, but then again. I hate Motorola and anything they announce at CES will be worth nothing to me I also like how they went with the TI Omap 4460. I do think they could have done better than the SGX 540 GPU
So the only real selling point compared to current offerings from other/better manufacturers is that it's thinner? And at (I'm assuming) a higher price point? Thanks, but no thanks. I do think there is such a thing as a phone that's too thin. The device should have some heft to it.
I can understand alot of people's concerns. Especially if anyone ever owned those Hauwei Cricket phones lol. It's to note that despite how thin it is, it packs an 1800mah battery, and I believe it will ship with PURE Android 4.0, so right now it looks like no carrier customization. aka, a cheap nexus lol (well not really but you get the idea)
LOL. APPLE MADE IN CHINA. Japan? So tell me what great phone is made in Japan that's being use over here? You should check stuff in your house and see where they are made.
I can't say anything about quality because I think that is more dependent on a particular model versus brand. However, don't underestimate Huawei as a company. They have a lot of money(second largest network equipment company behind cisco) and resources(cheap Chinese engineers). They can throw unlimited resources at ventures until they succeed.
A co-worker has a Huawuei with Cricket. It has a crap low resolution screen, you can see the pixels all over the place on that thing. Not pretty.
yes, Japanese phones suck. the best phones here are made in korea (Samsung/LG) or china (taiwan Foxconn Apple)
See post 9 Yeah, those Cricket phones give a horrible name to their brand. I wonder what carrier is going to pick this phone up in Q2.
I would qualify LG as making "the best phones" lol . The only thing LG has going for them (In regards to phones, their TV division is outstanding IMO) is VMWare Virtualization that they are testing on the Revolution where you can pretty much have two phones in one <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7dGHr9Oh55k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Huawei is my company's competitor. I can tell you when it comes to telecomm services, they constantly make cheap offers for their services, and that is reflected in their quality. Made in China. No thanks.
I'm more concerned about where the DESIGN is done. I want Apple or some of the Japanese minds working on my personal electronics. Chinese? Unproven.
I get what your'e saying, but in regards to phones (Japanese). I've never seen anyone here rocking a Panasonic or Sharp Phone Sony phones aren't all that great either, but I do like some of their recent stuff.
