What did we give up for Schaub before he was proven? Was it 2 2nd round picks? I can't remember.

I don't care if Yates goes on an Eli Manning Super Bowl run, Schaub should be the starter next year with TJ as the backup. Why do we have to get rid of either one of them? This year show us why depth is pretty important.

We know what we got with Schaub, but regardless of what TJ does from here on out, he's still gonna be a wildcard cause he's so young. What if we traded Schaub and TJ regresses next year? Then what? For a team that is in win-now mode, you don't go trading away one of your cornerstone pieces.

the texans average 16 points/game with TJ yates. they didn't beat Cincy with Yates arm, it was the running game and defense. Yates was barely over 50%, 11-20. Even though it's possible that we make it to the Super Bowl with Yates, no one in their right mind would consider this team a Super Bowl contender. However, they would be with Schaub. but you want to trade the QB that gives us a much better chance at winning?

Lol, sure. Lets make Leinart the new backup while we're at it and cut Schaub

I would cut ties with him, Delhomme looked much better than Lienert.

Seriously. If TJ wins a Superbowl . .. what do you do?

How do you bench the SuperBowl winner
    [hypothetical issue]

yates would look like Doug Williams after his Superbowl

Given what we have seen, I don't see how Leinart returns. He will either get traded or released.

No matter what happens in the Baltimore game, Yates comes out of it no worse than 2nd string going into the 2012 season.

Matt Schaub is the best qb on Texans team. If Yates win super bowl this year, it's great but Matt Schuab will be our qb next season no matter what.

    I am thinking the same

Leinart's Career took a major blow here.
I dunno if he will get another backup job because
now he has the dreaded INJURY PRONE tag attached to him

    . . . unless he starts 4-0 next year
People will be booing the isht out of him
Calls for Yates will be all over

*IF* it happened. . . I'd look for Kubiak to trade one of them
He just does not do QB controversies.
He will go with HIS GUY and get rid of the other guy

    If I won a superbowl . . .I don't think I'd be kewl to ride the bench
    and . . I don't think Yates will either

I say pull a New England. Matt Cassell had a good year subbing for Brady then they hosed Kansas City trading him while his stock was high. Cassell's been average and less than durable.

If Yates does play well and the team keeps winning I'd say you put out feelers on both and see what they bring.

For this to even be a conversation, Yates will need to win the AFC Championship game and take us to the SB.

    start schaub next year.

ravens released Trent Dilfer AFTER winning the superbowl, they didnt even keep him as a 3rd QB, just released him.

the games would be won easily if schaub were healthy.

This, 1,000 times. Schaub is so ultra-efficient; so consistently reliable. He runs the offense perfectly and rarely turns it over. He's a very good QB. Yates might be that guy down the road - but he's not right now. You're dealing with a small sample size - and it's been most unremarkable; teams given a full off-season would eat his lunch with where he is right now in his development.

Any success we see under Yates would be duplicated two-fold with Schaub.

So, in short, no. Unless TJ shows substantial progress next year and Schaub cannot recover from his injury.

My god, I wish these ****ing threads would stop.

No matter what, we go into the offseason with Schaub the expected starter. Only way he isn't is if he struggles with his foot longterm.

The important thing is, we've got to upgrade the receivering corps. Top pick has to be a speed demon to replace Jacoby.
