Wow what an utterly ignorant post. Are you actually saying its DM's fault that Yao Ming has to retire and Tmac sucks? And if as you say everyone expects Tmac's back to be injured, is one willing to trade for him? He got the most out of Tmac with the Kevin martin trade+Ny goodies, what more do you expect? NJ isn't going to send Derrick Favors+picks for Tmac.

As for getting assets to trade for a star, Lakers used that strategy to trade for Gasol, NY used it to trade for Melo, Clips used it to trade for CP3. Its only questionable in your own ******* mind.

First off, you can't keep using Yao & Tmac as an excuse every year. Secondly, nobody wants the so called "assets" Morey's put on this team. The guy's been GM for 5 years and we still have no direction on this team. He fired a HOF coach for a inexperienced more likeable coach who doesn't know matchups. Have you watched any games this season?

Yao is still a very relevant point when making a case for Morey. That type of situation, included with T-mac, would have crippled most organizations more than our own. The collection of "assets" is not the equivalent of garbage the way you are making it out to be. Even if the player's value is not where you think it needs to be, the value of the contracts and the expiring contracts constitute smart thinking from Morey. He hasn't signed anyone to bad contracts and had a trade in place to make this team better, imo. Your expectations just seem a little far-fetched to me. What could have been done differently that makes you view him as a poor GM? Lastly, too much attention is given to Morey for the decision to switch coaches. There is no indication that the decision was a one-way street and that the decision was Morey's alone; so that point should not be used to determine his effectiveness as a GM. We are 7 games into the season with virtually no camp under a new head coach. Way too early to be making determinations about hirings and players at this point. With all of this and playing quality opponents, along with back-to-backs, this team is exactly where it should be: struggling to find an identity. Morey has done everything that he could with the cards that he has been dealt. If you want to blame anyone, then blame Les for wanting to stay competitive and avoiding the notion of a true rebuild.

The blazers lost oden and roy. They are still pretty good. Maybe we should have hired cho or prichard instead?

I agree that they have done a good job. But, I hardly compare losing Oden to losing Yao. They never really had him, due to constant injury, but have done an amazing job of remaining competitive.

You think Cleveland likely to the playoffs?

Okay. I'll give you a chance to get Clutch some free money with a bet. Even odds on Cleveland making the playoffs. I of course say no. I'll also throw in that if Cleveland can win a higher percentage than the Rockets the past two years, I also lose the bet even if they don't make the playoffs.

What exactly was funny in what I said? If you are going to critique you should offer a counter.

    Is this a joke?

What's next. You're going to compare Kevin Martin to Clyde Drexler or Tyson Chandler to Hakeem?

What about losing roy? Roy was one of the best players/finishers in the league regardless of postion.

Once yao hit the ground in la, it was over. Battier's value as the glorified kobe stopper was at an all time high. The rockets in the offseason could've gotten more than thabeet for shane. If nothing else, they probably could've gotten a younger player to transition.I've never been a fan of 1 dimensional guys like. Martin. To all those who say les won't ler him do his job, quit. Y'all act like les is a modern day human trafficer and morey is the prostitute. If my boss, if I had one, gave me unrealistic options, I would quit. If he's such a great gm, some team would love to pay for his skills. Hell, billy king got another job. Pritchard the wonderkid will have another soon. Too many are using yao, tracy, les, and stern as excuses.

Not sure if you are referring to my post as your basis, but, don't take what I've said out of context. I don't blame Les whatsoever for what our current situation is. I love him as an owner. But, the current path of the Rockets may not be what Morey feels is the best road to rebuilding. That doesn't mean you hate your job; or quit. Just not the situation that he might feel is ideal. As for the Stern debacle, I don't really see it as an excuse. I do feel that it can be used to gauge Morey's effectiveness at his job. For everything written before the premise for these retorts, I completely agree. That night in LA was when all was lost.

Roy was great and that is why I said they have done a great job of staying competitive. But Roy and Oden are not the equivalent of Yao and Tracy.

The Portland Trailblazers have a similar situation. Yet they're organization has better upside than we do. You can't keep using the Tmac & Yao excuse every year. Tmac's been with 3 different teams since the Rockets and Yao was hurt his WHOLE career, Morey saw his retirement coming and had time to prepare.

We got RAPED in that Gasol trade. Are you kidding? Gasol was NOT the cornerstone franchise player we were waiting for and we gave up more for him than the Lakers did to get Chris Paul. Terrible in every sense. I'd rather have Scola's hustle over Gasol's disappearing acts in playoff games. Atleast we know Scola's going give it 150% every possession.

First off, he should've kept the core of this team together until so we could package AB, Landry & Scola for a potential superstar. He should've made signing Chuck more of a priority and he should've held on to Von Wafer too. The Battier trade was terrible being Thabeet isnt getting any PT now and Budinger isnt a NBA starter, so we lost a key contributor for basically nothing.

Wrong. It was Morey who wanted Adelman to mentor his own replacement. It was Morey who never consulted with Adelman before making any of the 32 transactions he made in two years. It was Morey who wanted to dictate who played instead of letting Adelman focus on winning games. Les had the final say but if Morey kept undermining his HOF coach then selling Les on one day flipping all these wonderful assets into a superstar, then he's the guilty party.

It's a level of arrogance he shows that isnt neccesary being he hasnt proven anything. The Rockets are going to be terrible this year and it should fall on Morey

This a results driven business. If you think ur boss is being unrealistic, then you need to either make it happen or gtfo. Morey wanted adelman to bypass all of his longtime assistants for someone he doesn't even know. He asked one of the winningest coaches in history to not pick his replacement, but to train a guy who hasn't been anything to him in this league. Adelman said, I'm good, thx a lot, and go eff yourself. In minny, who's on the bench? The same crew in houston. He manned up and moved on vs making excuses.

Similar how? The only way that situation would be if Aldridge was retiring due to injury along with Roy. That comparison, of Roy and Oden, is barely along the lines of T-mac and Scola. And I still don't think that makes the cut. Morey saw the retirement coming? Really? I know I didn't. I thought Yao would take a while to get back to form, but there was no indication or even idea of retirement. You are using hindsight way too unfairly.

I didn't like the trade alone for Gasol. But, if the pairing with Nene were to have happened this team would have been competitive. The whole picture was more appealing than the trade alone. Are you really saying that those two would not be exponentially better than our current backcourt?

Why? We were pieces away from being a real contender, with a healthy Yao, and Brooks played his way out of Houston. Brooks shot his own value down and has not recovered since. You don't keep a disgruntled player on the bench to ruin team chemistry when you are trying to make a run at the playoffs. I loved Landry but not sure I would currently take him over Patterson. As for Chuck, I still feel that he was a victim of the trade that will never be. If that had not gone down, then I think he may have been a priority. And Von Wafer? I'm not even going into that one.

Thank you for explaining the inner working between the Rocket's management to me. I had no idea you had access to such information. Yes, Morey wanted Adelman to mentor his own successor; but was that so outlandish? Everything else is made up information that no one knows but those involved. Thre are no facts to back many of these claims that seem to be common knowledge to some on here.

I don't agree that the Rockets are going to be terrible(which I would assume would fall at or below the 7th worst record or so) and would not solely blame one person associated with the franchise if it were to happen. This was a worst-case scenario for all teams having new coaches. We took a team, that many are picking to play for the championship, to the final seconds tonight. We are struggling and I think that is normal for a team in our situation paired with the structure of the season. In the end, I support whoever it is affiliated with the Rockets until a change is made.

All businesses are results driven. But, sometimes it is necessary to wait to achieve certain expectations. Obviously, Les feels that Morey is doing his job or he wouldn't be here. I know Adelman was being forced to be a mentor, but outside of that there was no real information on the split as I can recall. Adelman would not have been happy with the current state of this team and still feel that it was as much his decision to move on as it was the Rockets. I don't have a problem with Morey doing his job and protecting the long-term interest of the team over the short-term interest of the coach; even if that is Rick Adelman.
