He signed a 2 year deal overseas and has an NBA out-clause as soon as the Rockets decide to bring him over.
I would not be surprised to see D-Mo actually play this season. If we make a big trade at the trade deadline, I fully expect us to call him back and get him in a Rox uni.
I doubt it. Better to have D-Mo on a cheap rookie deal for a full four years rather than three years and a few extra games. They'll have plenty of time during the 2012 offseason to work with him. He'll play summer league, etc., and get to practice all summer. Conversely, a condensed season with little practice time would do very little for either D-Mo or the Rockets. If a deadline deal leaves the Rockets with a roster opening, they'd probably just sign a guy like Greg Smith to a "Marqus Blakely-type" two-year deal (second year non-guaranteed). That's been Morey's MO thus far.
