They should change the Rep Level of "Kevin Martin, Racking up points" to something else, because we all know he's not.
Lowry plays like an All-Star, so far and Dragic, played great as starting point guard last night (w/ O turnovers), yet we get blown away. We have big problems with our big men, especially Hill and Budinger, they play defense like Washington Generals (Harlem Globetrotters). We shot 46%, we should have a chance to win this game, but the score was so lopsided, it isn't the offense, it is the defense that is cratering the Rockets. We need 2 new starters, insert Dalembert and TWill/Parsons and start using the clock. We need to control the game, not let our defense control Rockets game because it is lacking a lot.
I don't think we know much one way or the other about this team. We've been playing very good opponents in very tough conditions, and tougher than usual tonight without Lowry or Lee.
I remember John Wooden saying that his staff had found the stat that had the highest correlation with winning was field goal percentage. Since then, the first thing that I check on the box score is our percentage vs the opponent. In the few cases it does not hold up, the explanation can be found in free throws or 3 pt shooting. I noticed that our opponents this year were often shooting over 50% and did a little searching: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/team/_/stat/defense-per-game/sort/fieldGoalPctOpponent Rockets solidly in last place in opponents field goal percentage at .502. I swear I saw guys getting out of the way of folks driving to the basket. If you give your opponent a lot of 90% shots you better be doing the same on the other end of the floor or the numbers are against you.
My god, you are still humping this dead sheep...this year? Really? Having too many good players is not remotely one of the Rockets problems. It hasn't been for decades. It maybe never has been. The Rockets currently have one good player, Lowry. They used to have two other good players (Scola, Martin) but they appear to no longer fit that bill due to age or whatever. Even if they got back to "good player" status, that would make 3, which is good enough to make them a .500 team. That's not "too many" any more than 43 wins is "too many".
It is not too many good players, it is too many like players, or average ones. I mean think about it Sam, if Morey's goal is to flip some of these players, he has to get them significant playing time to raise their value, but that leaves some of the other players that are about the same level as them rotting on the bench. If you are Terrence - a volitile personality for sure - and you see someone that you think you are clearly better than starting and playing above you in CBud, how long do you think he tows the company line? Or what about Dalembert watching Jordan Hill getting destroyed every night? I just think the roster is a mess. DD
That, in a nutshell, explains Rockets sucktitude this season. To be a contending team in NBA, you need superstars who can alter the course of a game. Rockets don't have one.
Kevin love's playin the best ball of any PF in the NBA. There's absolutely NOTHING we have we could offer Minnesota. None of our assets are considered valuable outside of clutchfans.
Co-sign. With McHale there is absolutely no direction on offense. No plays, no sets, just futile pick-and-rolls. Not properly utilizing his offensive talents. K-Mart should have multiple screens set for him to get him open. Really pathetic and sad to watch.
They had the upperhand against the Heat and the Thunder, lost it in the closing moments of the game. This without training camp to learn Adelman's offense. We did not look respectable against Thunder, will not look respectable against the Heat.
Parsons starting!? I like it! He plays like he wants to win. We are going to lose but this will be fun to watch. He defense is already better than Bud's.
