I think Lowry's recent dilemma broke the morale of our Rockets. Nobody plays hard anymore. Rockets have imploded.
I suspect there have been incidents when individuals quit, but I believe the whole scenario is the result of a lack of a foundational defensive ethic. We've been so far divorced from Van Gundy's whole-team defensive philosophy that none of our athletes have the foundational tools to be complete players. It's easy to say one player is a subpar, or even bad, defender. But how do we explain a team of defensive failures? I don't think anyone truly quit, and the team definitely didn't quit. They simply can't perform what they've never been taught. We may look back at this era of two consecutive players' coaches in a row as a huge mistake, especially as regards our attempt to rescue and improve a host of young borderline players desperately in need of direction.
We are tanking/rebuilding, but Morey needs to tell Les Alexander otherwise. Les needs to take the bitter pill. We need to get worse before we can get any better.
In all honesty who cares if we are tanking or not on purpose. The bottom line is that this team is no good. I can't wait for that high draft pick and Morey's trades that are upcoming.
There are eight teams with two victories, including us. There is only one team with a worse record, the Wizards at 0-7. So at this point, we are still positioned to get a high draft pick.
Did Scola hint at the tanking in this article (http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...r-keep-defenseless-rockets-winless-on-road/)? Or vaguely criticize McHale? "We need to find a way to play right instead of play bad. If it’s (because of) new coach staff, so be it. We want to win, anyway.”
Trade Martin for draft pics; Trade Scola for draft pics; Trade Dragic for draft pic; Trade Dalambert for draft pics; Play Hill & PPT & Lowry & Lee & Morris;
I have been saying this a for long time. It is better to suck for let's say 2 seasons and come back strong than to hand around the 8th seed every single year and don't really have a chance of improving. We have few nice pieces especially Lowry who should become a star shortly, but we are going nowhere. Yes the schedule is difficult and we just don't have enough talent night in and night out. I still think McHale is trying to win. But losing would be much much better.,
Scola has to go, that's a sure thing. He can help the right team. As for Martin I don't know but maybe it is the right idea too.
Wow, that reads pretty bad, basically saying they should plsy how they like no matter what the coach wants. DD
I think there are three definitions of "tanking" being used in this thread, which causes some confusion: 1. The front office/coaching staff are rebuilding, developing young players. 2. The players and/or coaching staff are losing on purpose. 3. Everyone wants to win now and is putting their best foot forward, but Rockets are struggling, losing a lot of games. #1 is what I'd like to see, but I don't think it's happening (yet). #2 is absurd. #3 is the closest to reality.
All of the above. We're trying to rebuild while trying to stay competitive (lol) with a new coaching staff, and some players whose heart aren't in it.
i am with #3. this team doesn't have the assets to win games. at the some point of the season, you will see young players will get playing time if we aren't in playoff chase. you will see dm will trade our assets but those assets except scola won't get much back, likely low 1st round or high 2nd round.
