to make things worse..we play the thunder again tomorrow..and at home..on a back to back and we have played like crap on back to backs..
Bud was OK tonight, he outrebounded TWill in 6 less minutes, only took 5 shots...he was just in foul trouble. Folks are just looking to pounce on my gingerman ! DD
I want to see more Chandler. That makes 2 rockets that play with fire even when we are losing; Lowry and Parsons.
Not according to the stats he isn't...Bud is still shooting a higher % than him. Except on 3s where they are about even. DD
At this point, I can only hope for another #1 pick in the upcoming draft and land another Hakeem. This team doesn't inspire me.
Yes, straight to have a pick in the 10th to 16th range. On one hand this team has been a disappointment and I hope they are embarrassed of themselves because they have been playing like punks who have given up on themselves and have no heart; defense is worse, there doesn't appear to be anything good going on offense, and most of our players have played below expectations. On the other hand, We're in the middle of playing the 3 most star-studded teams in the west, everything is going just like it was scripted, we need to keep that in mind to keep things in perspective. I will not panic until I see the same happen against the teams we're supposed to beat, at which point I would gladly be happy with trading away Scola and/or Martin for peanuts and tank like it should be done. As currently constituted this roster is just as terrible for tanking. If you're going to suck, might as well do it right.
strictly falls on GM & coach. Some of you get caught up in the hype and actually believe we're in good shape as a organization. We're probably in the worst position we've been in franchise history
I think Morey gets that...his comments in the offseason about losing being the easier route for rebuilding evidence that. I don't think Alexander gets it even a little bit. He's Drayton McLane before he started trading away talent for youth. In pro sports, you have to be willing to take your lumps...particularly so in basketball where: 1. taking your lumps is rewarded with higher draft picks; and 2. one player can transform a franchise.
Do you think Morey understands what it is to have too many players and not enough playing time? Because last year he was arguing with Bill Simmons about that very thing saying it would all even out and having too many was a good thing. I think he is nuts, and that is a chemistry disaster waiting to happen especially with a rookie coach like McHale. DD
In-depth notes on this game to save those of you who haven't watched the game, 2.5 hours of agony. (Warning, long and painful read) 1) We are a finesse team. No way around it. The evidence includes soooo many silly reach in fouls from our guys. Foul HARD or not at all. King of this is Hill as I've seen him give up and-1s like it's halloween candy. Rockets should learn how to foul in practice. Ex: Durant glides in for easy layup without any resistance. Dragic tries the same and gets clobbered. Remember the former Artest's no layup philosophy? Rockets should tally all the layups opposing teams get and run suicides for each one. That would get players in shape fast! 2) Defense? I think rox made less than 10 legit defensive stops the entire game. We are the worst defensive team in the league... worst at pick&roll (doesn't stop either options), worst at man to man, can't figure out which is worse... perimeter or interior defense. 2) Effort is not 100% for 48min. Bigs jogging back while other teams' bigs sprint for easy dunks. Guards not playing their part in help defense or getting back to stop fastbreaks. 3) Lack of rebounds: On the 5 or so decent defensive possession in the game, Rox give up offensive rebounds each time and opponent ends up scoring. That is just a killer. We have a long history of not securing rebounds dating back to the Yao era that cost us games. Rox had like 3 offensive rebounds before 5 min left in game. If we didn't get offensive rebounds and didn't get back on defense to prevent the fast break, what the heck did we do? 4) Who to keep and who to tell gtfo! -Flynn: Rarely have i seen someone who doesn't help on offense or defense. Not a PG. Example of not knowing what to do is he misses players who are blatantly open and then tries to force passes that aren't there. He has blown three fast breaks where we had the advantage and pulled back out to reset in the span of 2 min. He then blows another wide open pass to Goran who is sitting underneath the basket. [WAIVE] -Hill: Never-ever-ever run offense through Hill or ask him to make plays period. Turnover galore, weak hands, does not box out, pansy 1v1 posterior defense. Get rid of him. It doesn't matter if we don't have reserve bigs. [GTFO] -Twil: He seems to be feeling more comfortable it seems. I argue that he needs to start. Things to improve on... tighten handles so less turnovers, make easy pass and not the cross court or small spaces one. He played adequate defense on Durant. Keep. -Martin: largely inefficient on offense because not enough screens called for him and then when he gets the ball, he does not want to go into the paint for contact. after 1st quarter martin made conscious effort to get to the line. he needs to be in the right circumstances to maximize his game. keep. -patterson: is looking physically better at times but not completely back as he does not dunk wide open and point blank shot. still shows the good defensive awareness as advertised but missing about 2 inches in length to really bother people. on offense he's still apprehensive on his jumpshot, not catch/release like last year. needs to put in reps to get confidence back. where is his low post game? does he have one? keep. -lowry for mvp? shows how important he is in keeping our team afloat. -dragic: fearless. and makes things happen whether good or bad. decent defender keep. -chase: aka charmin ultra soft. bud only useful on run&gun team. 3 fouls in like first 5 possessions against durant. bud would be abused by 5th grader. [BENCH] -Parsons: just understands the game and knows how to play for a rookie. which is the true and only reason why there's bud comparisons, because chase was the same in his rookie year. keep. funny tidbits: -Dalembert tells someone repeatedly "calm the *uck down". it's to flynn lol. it must've been for dally not passing the ball out after an offensive rebound. this is not the first time we've seen this so no surprise. dally grabs another offensive board, gets fouled and tells flynn "that's what i do". while i don't condone dally's actions, flynn has no right to tell anyone what to do. -whoever said that durant can't create on his own = fail -cook can take the goggles off cuz not worried about any resistance on rockets -i hope morey's taking notes because we really need to get rid of certain players on our team. don't worry about not getting full value. addition by subtraction. for example, by getting rid of hill and flynn, rockets collective bball iq and toughness goes up 10points. *sigh, i needed to get this off my chest*
The Clippers game looked worse than this one. He's not a difference maker, ie a superstar willing his team to wins.
Flynn is the worst guard in the entire league. I loathe watching him play. Least favorite Rocket since Luther Head (who could actually do at least one thing well).
