She didn't see him throwing it while she bent over?
Was he the only guy who was mad at her? Could be more than one, a gang. ;)

You might be right, but something tells me he wouldn't have threatened her to her face and instead tweeted about it. #wordapp

Of course, that's not any better.

When everyone b****es and moans about how celebrities get special treatment, I think this is the downside. If any other guy threw a basketball too hard at a woman in a pick up game, no one would make a big deal about it, much less a battery charge. Also, I think an obvious double standard is in play because the ref was a woman.

I don't what happened to her exactly but she is not in hospital, nor is she mildly to severely injured. Words can be said.....that story not for me to construct. But if she is a ref....she should have see that coming. That is her job. It could have smashed her nose but it didn't.

My mom and wife would understand if it was in the heat of the moment. I mean she threw a ball at him too.

    Enabling is fun !!!

    And also childish...

Hold him accountable...that is what Lowry gets for breaking the law.

I admit it's a mistake by Lowry. He should manage his anger accordingly. However, I believe it's a minor issue.

Of course it is, a class B misdemeanor is not a major issue at all.

But it is still AN ISSUE...and pretty classless TBH.

It's not like he's in his fourties and 24, 25 is still green behind his ears...
Guy has to mature for this team and himself.
    Learning is key.

Ok. Since when should we think of every Rocket as being saints?
    Rafer drove while being drunk......
Griffin was into drugs..... Franchise too.

So women should only be respected because they might be of value to another man?

I think too many of you are interpreting this story as a act of misogyny, when it seems more likely to be an act of uncontrollable anger, especially since Lowry apologized shortly afterwards.

People make mistakes, no doubt about it. This dude made several. I know these guys aren't saints and I don't expect that, but dude blew his stack and apparently it had been brewing all game. Lowry was verbally "abusive" to the male refs and freakin' Maggette had to apologize to the female ref (probably because he was embarrassed and knows better).

You have to wonder if he might lose it during an NBA game. I sure hope not, b/c hell recover from this incident. This is small potatoes compared to, say, running into the stands to beat down a fan and people love RonRon these days.

P.S. - never was a fan of Francis or Griffin and was "meh" on Alston. I ran into Francis at The Colorado on 59 the night before a game. I don't think much of players who drink it up and party the night before a game. Shows a lack of maturity among other things.

I find it disturbing that many here are confusing a lawsuit and criminal charges.

Breaking the law? He threw a basketball someone. Is that intent to hurt? No. Intent to kill? No. Intent to maim? No.

He didn't even throw it at her in the face. Not to mention she retaliated and didn't specify where SHE threw it at her.

Just like in the game of basketball this should be a double technical.

Where did I say women should be respected only because of their value to another man? I was simply trying to have him relate this to a woman in his own life to provide some additional perspective. I don't know about you, but my father raised me to never harm the fairer sex. Be that a pimp slamp to the face, a kick in the crotch, or a basketball (or two) to the torso.

It certainly seems like a bout of uncontrollable anger and I'd say that's a bad sign that he took it out on someone while on the court. I also wonder if news of this spreads amongst NBA refs making them more sensitive to Lowry's on-court comments. No good way to spin any of this.

Then, as I just said above, this likely colors the NBA ref view of Lowry.

So just to make sure I understand your logic, it should be perfectly legal to beam someone with a basketball and then tell them you plan to kick their ass?
