Do you honestly think we are building our team around Kyle Lowry?

Do you believe he is anything more than a complimentary piece?

Do you beleive that Morey would hesistate to trade him for a real franchise player?

Our team is all role players.

Look, players grow. If Lowry does this for an entire season, he's an all-star. There's no way you don't try to build around an all-star. It's absurd not to. All-stars aren't easy to get. And superstars/franchise players are even harder to get.

The guy is putting up 15/10/6/2 so far. Those are ridiculous stats.

Secondly, franchise players are only a handful on this league. Who are you talking about? Amare is a guy the Knicks can build around, but they're willing to trade him for a "real" franchise player. Gasol is a guy you can build around, but the Lakers will trade him also.

You always trade for better players if you can. And if you can get franchise players, you get them. Lowry isnt' a franchise player, but only 7-8 franchises have REAL franchise players. The rest would be happy with all-stars. And we're seeing one growing up in front of our eyes.

    Current Franchise Players
    Dwight
    Lebron
    Wade
    Bosh
    Melo
    Paul
    D.Williams
    Kobe
    Durant
    Amare

Former Franchise players, turned into complimentary pieces

    Garnet
    Nash
    P.Gasol
    Dirk
    Duncan
    McGrady

    Emerging

Griffin (cusp, could turn into one)
Wall (cusp, could turn into one)

Are the only players in the current era that I would consider true franchise players. These are the only players I could envision building a championship contending team around. Any other player is a complimentary piece (role player).

Just because a guy is an all star or fringe all star, does not mean they are worth building around. Mo Williams and Jameer Nelson are all stars, they are NOT guys you build around, they are NOT franchise players.

The Rockets need someone of this caliber, not all stars, so they can trully begin to rebuild a team, with a franchise guy at its heart, that can contend for a championship.

Bosh is one of those guys, Kyle Lowry is not.

    1) Amare, Bosh, and Melo are NOT franchise players. Their team would flip them with the quickness if they can get real franchise players (a list below).
    2) Memphis didn't consider Pau to be a franchise player or else they wouldn't trade him for a bag of chips

Look, you wouldn't want to build around Lamarcus Aldrige? He's an all-star. Him as the best player can potentially take that Blazers team to the 2nd round, something Garnett and McGrady never did as the best player for the longest time (And McGrady never did). What about Kevin Love? You don't want to build around him??

Jameer Nelson and MO williams were all-stars by default => product of a successful team. They were never considered all-stars by the general fans or the media. You'll get a laugh if you do.

Lowry's PRODUCTION merits all-star status right now, and will be if he continues anywhere close to this pace.

Like I said, there are only 7-8 franchise players in this league a team will consider a player "untradeable." That's when you know they are franchise players:
    1) LBJ
    2) Howard
    3) Durant
    4) Rose
    5) Wade
    6) Paul
    7) Kobe
    8) Blake Griffin
    Maybe Dwill

That's it. The rest are all-stars, and many teams are building around one or two of them, like the Pistons did, or Spurs now, or Blazers...

This was one of the biggest shams on here, the pursuit of Bosh by the Rockets. We got a gang of fans in Toyota trucks to try to influence his decision, and they went to the wrong location.

On top of that, Morey was making a massive mistake, paying Bosh Max money would have killed this team, his production is not that of a Superstar, nor does he have any ALLURE to other players to get them to come play with him.

He is simply a very good player, but not worth paying him what they are paying him......you get the same production out of Scola for a lot less.

I think Morey severly overvalued him, and personally was glad he went to the Heat.

So I find it funny to read folks saying he was not a franchise player.....to that I say...

    Well...DUH !!!

    ;)

Although he's not a franchise player, Bosh isn't just a "very good player." He's an all-star, and one of the better ones at that.

But that Scola comparison is just laughable.

Morey would still offer the max right now to Bosh if he could b/c you don't get all-stars on your team that often, let alone superstars. Sometimes you have to overpay for those guys. He desperately wanted a star on a team that had no star (well Let's hope Lowry keeps going at this pace).

Chris Bosh in his final year in Toronto was floating around 4th in PER for most of the year until he got injured.

He took a terribly run Toronto team whose second best player was Bargnani to 50 wins. He was absolutely a franchise player and still is, as shown last night, where he took a Heat team without Lebron/Wade and beat a very talented Hawks team by putting up stupid good numbers.

Bosh playing in Adelman's system in the Chris Webber role would of catered to his skill set perfectly and he would of been unreal. FFS, Adelman was able to squeeze a triple double out of Hayes, and Bosh has ten times the talent that Hayes does.
