Tell me how many "normal" people get hit with battery charges for throwing a basketball at somebody's torso during a game?

Exactly, it's not right for me to accuse you of gayness by something you wrote but you choose to do that of our best player who always plays with heart. If the rest of the Rockets played with the same heart we might have something.

None of that is relevent in this case.

If she felt threatened and had a ball thrown at her a couple of times, and the DA saw it, there is a case here.

You just can not walk up to someone and threaten them...that too is against the law.

Is it a big deal, no...but it is against the law and Lowry will have to deal with the consequences of him losing his temper.

For me, I really don't care about any of that, but it does sound like our little Kyle has joined the "Entitlement" brigade of NBA players.

Sometimes a good slap upside the head by Johnny Law will bring them back to reality.

But threatening would be assault, not battery.

I think they will take that into consideration when deciding his sentence.

If he did it, and it sure sounds like he did, he has to pay the piper.

He will learn his lesson and move on....

    Class B misdemeanors are nothing.....

I agree they are nothing, so much that:

    a) I can't believe someone would file a complaint over it (I think she only did because he is in the NBA)
    b) That the DA would waste time and energy on it (I think only because he is in the NBA).

Lowry will either plead guilty and receive <100 hours community service/<$1,000 fine, or fight it and it gets dropped.

I think that the fact that she was a woman also played into it, I doubt a guy would file charges either, they might have fought but no charges.

And yes, Kyle being an NBA player does play into it, and he should know that and act accordingly.

I have not read through the whole thread, but the Chronicle stories reference her being hit in the torso. I think that makes it clear that the head was not hit so he is doing more than just extrapolating.

It can't be that much though, I mean how much would you give her if you sat on a jury, a thousand or two.....?

Either way, Kyle should know better, he is an NBA player and thus a target....

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are a female and you are wacked in the boobies, doesn't that hurt about the same as a guy getting smacked in the nads?

he'll have to pay court costs and do some community service at most. This is really not a big deal people.

Besides being a "violent" crime -- laughable it seems with a basketball -- I think y'all are making this more than what it actually is. It is still a misdemeanor and Lowry is probably a first-time offender. This will probably just blow over easily with a payout.

Based on what is written above, the FIRST time he threw the ball at her it hit her in the torso. That was during the game. Then he went into the locker room area after the game where she was changing shoes and "she was hit with a basketball at a high rate of speed". The report doesn't say where the second thow he made hit her, but this second throw was clearly outside the bounds of the game. We need more information as to exactly what happened with this second throw, but if you have ever been hit in the head by a basketball thrown at high speeds you know it hurts. I doubt anyone would be willing to just laugh it off if someone as strong as Lowry came into the locker room and pegged you with a basketball as hard as they could while you were changing your shoes after a pick up game was over. You might not press charges, but I doubt you would just accept it as a reasonable result of reffing a summer league game. A man might fight Lowry over it, but it's not like that is likely to be a reasonable course of action for a woman. If Lowry did the same thing during an NBA game there is no telling how long he would be suspended, so he is lucky that he is unlikely to get more than a $1000 fine and maybe some community service unless she suffered some serious injury as a result of the second throw. He will probably also be hit with a civil suit.
