Oh no **** I know it's the world that we live in. So if you know that's the world that we live in why are you supporting this broken system then? This is what you said "I would cut him straight away", you didn't say "it's the world that we live in so Kyle will get in bigger trouble for that". You justified your point by saying Kyle should be cut because he "attacked" a woman and "the gender matters". So you openly admit that it's unfair for Kyle yet you support immediately cutting him?
That last part was just their oppinion? How could they know his true intent. He stopped at throwing the ball and cussing and yet they are so sure his intent was to do her real physical harm? Then why didn't he? Why did he stop and just throwing the ball at her torso? Why not actually punch her if he wanted to hurt her. I think we should stick to the facts and not the assumptions that were made by her collegues.
Should she get charged with assault for throwing the ball at Lowry? If he gets charged then so should she.
I don't pretend to know a lot about the law, but this can't be more than a misdemeanor. What he did was definitely wrong, but it seems like this woman waited to file a police report. A normal person would file a report immediately if there was any bodily harm inflicted. This woman almost definitely has ulterior motives.
Didn't figure Kyle would have a breakthrough season, not worth charging a career backup back in September.
I agree the reaction would be different. If you say "F*** you!" to a woman, there's also a different reaction then if you say it to a man. Does it mean they should be treated different, under law? What I'm saying is that, legally, it shouldn't make a difference. And I can't imagine this being a crime if the ref was a man. Not that I'm an expert on these things.
I'm sure Las Vegas courts get hundreds and hundreds of cases that warrant more attention than this little spectacle. Even if everything is true, and Lowry is found guilty, he will NOT get 6 months in detention, unless he has multiple felonies and crap on his record. That is the only the maximum sentence he COULD be given. He will get a fine and maybe anger management, if anything. The only thing that will really hurt him is the media attention this will bring, and, even if it isn't necessarily right, the victim being a girl will bring more media than if he had struck a dude.
I don't get the law sometimes. Some women gets raped and the cops don't nothing, this woman gets hit with just basketballs and they charge the dude and it makes news.
I mean just public perception. And No I don't think Kyle Lowry should be cut. I'm the same guy that didn't want Mike Vick to go to jail for what he did.
'B****, meet me outside. I will kick you’re a**'." Any more questions? Just by itself that is a terroristic threat. Criminal.
Full retreat mode. When a dozen posters asked whether you were serious. This was your response. Then you went on to say You're just in full retreat mode now after saying something stupid. You only claimed you were joking after posters started trashing your broken logic.
I thought that part was pretty damning as well. The whole thing with him bullying a women is bad, but outright challenging her to a fight is way over the line. I thought it was somewhat redeeming that he went and apologized to her afterwards, but I am guessing the NBA may suspend him a game or two for actions detrimental to the league. The only way this all makes sense to me though is if this is a very manly looking woman, who Lowry sincerely thought was a dude. I mean, acting this way towards another guy at a pick up game makes total sense to me. That would explain why he apologized so soon after -- someone finally told him the referee was a woman. Of course, if that is the case, no way he can some out and say that -- because then the price of the out of court settlement would double.
Yeah I get the point. I just think the whole thing is being made bigger than what it is. You don't file charges against someone for getting made at you, cussing and throwing a ball at your torso IMO. It means Kyle was an ASS but that's it in my book. Now if he had actually assaulted the woman with intent to do bodily harm then that is something intirely different.
