LOL, we got a long thread full of folks calling Cousins a headcase and our own PG is telling women to "meet him outside". Hilarious. I really hope you aren't stepping to women Kyle. I lose all respect for you if that's true.
I'm not even debating Lowry I was joking about him anyway. I was debating on the views of a woman getting hit vs. teh views of when a man gets hit.
Throwing a basketball at someone is not the same thing as beating them. From time to time, we've seen NBA players throw a basketball at a ref. They are typically ejected and often suspended. I've never heard of one being charged with battery. And it really shouldn't matter one bit that this ref was female. The rules of physical contact between participants in a sporting event is different than out in "the real world".
You hope what, that we don't let gold diggers be refs? If I threw a basketball at you during the heat of a game would you charge me with assault?
Sorry but if an NBA player smacked a woman ref on tv the reaction would be worse than if he smacked a male ref. IT'S THE WORLD WE LIVE IN!
Technically I guess attack is right? I'm not sure I ever considered it an attack when someone throws a basketball at you and cuses at you. The whole thing seems blown way out of perportion to me.
Why are you derailing this thread with that, throwing a ball at a ref has nothing to do with getting smacked in the face.
Well Men are usually physically superior to women. That's just fact. Yeah I'm sure Gina Carano could kick my ass but she can't do that to any other professional male MMA fighter. With that said, all he did was throw a ball at her. A bball is not hard at all and if she was seriously hurt this would have been a much bigger story. Getting hit with a basketball is a "Ouch that hurts" feeling for about 5 mins and after that no other damage is done.
You're a sexist. That's all I can say. I hope you know a lot of women will get offended by what you say. By the way, it's throwing a ball at a woman. He wasn't even physically abusing her or punching her, he threw a ball at her. A REFEREE. Do you have any idea how often athletes "attack" referees? In every other sport you will see occasions where players will bump the referees, kick the ball at him, THROW the ball at him. I can't stress how many videos there are out there of NBA players throwing the ball at the referee. So because he threw it at a female referee we have to make a huge deal out of it? You're sexist to the bone.
Good lord what part of I'm not debating Kyle Lowry anymore but I'm debating people saying if it was a man would the reaction be different. Of course the reaction worldwide would be different.
I'm scratching my head here. What does it matter what setting they're in? What if the ref was the wife of a player and he beat her down? Is it not still spousal abuse? You can't beat women in our society. I thought that was understood already.
It would be worse but it does not make it right. Just like when a male teacher has sex with a female under aged student the guy gets persicuted (and rightly so) but when a female teacher suduces and has sex with an under aged male student the charges are usually less and a very large part of society goes does not think its all that bad. None of it makes it right but like you say, "its the world we live in."
I guess that make me sexist on my opinion on how America would view the situation. All it tells me is I have common sense on how things are viewed in this world and you're a gullible fool if you believe otherwise.
Context clues. Threw ball at her. she threw it back and turned to walk to lock room. Ball hit her at high rate of speed. Other ref said he had anger problem. He screamed he wanted to hurt her. This was not simply tossing the ball back.
Well at least you get my point. My whole point was how it would be viewed worldwide. The whole cut lowry thing and all that was a joke obviously considering I put Shane Battier in a post with Stack Jack and Kenyon Martin
