Yeah, and TWill has the same problem Mcgrady had towards the end of his stay here. They can get by their defender but have no way of finishing or getting by the help defense. Mcgrady's problem was that while he still had good handles he lost his explosion and no longer had the quickness to get by the next defender. TWill has good handles and quickness but has no shooting ability so as soon as he gets by his man the big doesn't step up to help he just sags daring him to shoot.

So, TWill's only real potential comes into play if he develops a decent jumper to make defenders pay for not rotating onto him. Him not being able to shoot keeps him from using his greatest skill on offense (passing). So, right now he's just a wing player that rebounds well. And, without the ball in his hands he only hurts the team's spacing.

Dont know but he is a damn better defender by FAR than Budinger which is enough for me to have him on the court more often then Chase, especially if two of our other scorers dont play defense.

I'm was not a huge fan of T-Will (though it's gradually changing), but from everything I've read about him, he takes pride in being a facilitator, not a slasher.

i think t-will attacks the rim a lil too much as it is. He should perhaps sticking to one or two dribbles and a dunk until his handles get tighter. he's very turnover prone

He is a decent ball-handler and passer. If he wasn't, McHale wouldn't design plays for him to make a play when he's in the game. They sometimes put the ball in his hands with Lowry in the game. Example being the Clipper game, they gave the ball to him and he drove it to the basket resulting in an and1. Another time, he drove it and passed it out to Lowry at the 3pt land.

I believe most of it is by design really, he's trying not to make too many mistakes or get outta control. He was a short leash and i

    From the game threads

When he drives and looks to score, people calls him a ball hog. When he's passing and looking for teammates, he's too passive and scared. No matter what he does, people will over analyze him and complain.

Without having read this entire thread of replies, I can tell that they are dominantly negative. I'm not super high on the guy, but I like what I'm seeing right now. To me it seems like coach has talked with him about a couple of things, and TWill seems to be improving on them:

    1) Defense - One of the first things coach said publicly as our coach was that this guy has the physique to be an elite defender ... I'm not ready to go there, but his on ball defense has been pretty good; really quick reaction to shots/pumpfakes; certainly there are exceptions, but it seems he's starting to get all-up-in-yo-face, kind of like Lowry's on ball defense.

    2) Stay under control - I don't see him jumping into the air without a plan like he used to last year. When he decides to drive, he does it, but he doesn't bailout half way there and then force a turnover. This has lead, IMO, to him dishing a bit more; basically when he doesn't see an immediate move to make, he passes the ball, which is why I think he's not shooting as much.

I'm sure to get flamed for this. I'm not trying to say he's the next great player, but these are some things that I've noticed improvement on; at least from this amateur perspective.

Seems to me that Twill is intent on making the eye-popping play, usually a great pass or a drive to an uncontested slam. Going into traffic doesn't give him as much room to do that.

Kinda weird, as I'm not sure I've ever seen a player who isn't looking mostly to pass OR mostly to shoot, but rather mostly looking to make some sort of spectacular play every time down the court. The kid is very talented (DaDakota's assessment notwithstanding), but seems like his first priority is to show off. Strange.

Not sure why you would get flamed that. I'd love to see more of Lowry, Lee, TWill combo. They did a heck of a job defending the perimeter, getting loose balls, and creating turnovers against the Lakers.

the combo was effective against the Lakers. T-will can't coexist with dragon.
