Is he scared of failure as some have been saying or is he accepting his role?

He is not good enough, his handles are not as good as folks think, he is primarily right hand dominant, and as such struggles finishing with his left.

Terrence is just not as good as some people think he is.....

Yeah, I agree. He's not as good of a ball-handler, or even passer, as people think. There has been a sentiment running on these boards that he'd be a better point guard than Dragic, which is absolutely laughable. That would be turnover city.

i think because he doesnt want to look like he is dominating the ball, which makes him passive. he needs to put his head down and take it to the rim!

Pretty much spot on analysis. I went to the Rockets vs. Spurs game and I was shocked to see how terrible he was at handling the ball.

I mean he can bring the ball up the court fine, but isolation he sucks (surprisingly).

Scared of failure. I hypothesize that he sometimes lacks confidence in his mid-range game, so he doesn't shoot. Also, he knows that the opponent doesn't respect his mid-range game, so he doesn't try to penetrate very much either.

He is a very good ball handler & passer. I was thinking the same thing, he shouldn't be so passive. I'd rather see him miss 10 shots than pass it off each play.

Clutchfans told him to not to, so he listened...

Or maybe it was the other way around...

I think with more time he will begin to find his spots. He has only played in 4 of the 6 games.

I've been one of his biggest supporters ... But its not just on offense ... Being agressive, period ... You'd think that when he finally got decent playing time he'd leave it all out there on the floor ... Taking advantage of his athleticism ... I want to see some fire ... I have yet to see any of that from him.

And DD is correct ... His handles are average at best.

I'm surprised at how many NBA players there are ... That make it that this far still without being able to dribble just as well with their off hand and finish with their off hand.

Look at his college stats. Williams never averaged more than 12.5 points per game, and never shot better than 43.1% from the field and didn't attempt many FTs.

    http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Terrence-Williams-507/stats/

He's not exactly a proven high volume or high efficiency scorer in either college or in the NBA. If he was really great at driving and finishing at the rim, he would have done it more often already.

Instead, Terrence's best attributes were rebounding (8.6 a game in 34 minutes) and passing (5.0 a game).

His numbers really look a lot like that of Chandler Parsons-- a versatile player with some unusual attributes (usually guys who can rebound don't get assists, and vice versa) who only scores occassionally.

Yeah. You are spot on there.
I've seen countless opportunities where T-Will had an opportunity to finish with a left handed layup or finger roll only to pass the ball away or finish with a crazy difficult right handed layup or floater.

While there is a plethora of assistant coaches that ride on NBA benches, it seems that most of them are generally described as offensive assistants or defensive assistants and sometimes position specific such as "big man" assistant.

How about a ball-handling assistant? Can i hear an "AMEN" for Calvin Murphy?

You can't teach ball handling that quickly.
Its muscle memory established over a long period of time.

    Aaron Brooks what? :p

But no, I never jumped on the Terrence Williams wagon. I just never understood the hype and hoopla around this guy. Buncha hype and talk.

Gosh forbid I agree with him :p but maybe DD is right. Maybe Terrence isn't as good as people think he is or as good as they want him to be.
