Bill Polian got canned, so why is morey out of touch of getting canned? He's out from the mcgrady/yao contracts and what has he netted us? Adelman walked out the door, dalembert signed(which wasnt a bad thing), and a bunch of young guys on the bench.
Lol, this is the 1st year he has been without Yao and T-mac's contracts. Did Polian get less than 2 weeks of a season? No. So why should Morey? Oh yeah, and Polian inherited a team with the #1 pick, Peyton Manning. Has Morey had anything higher than #14? Also, Adelman ended up with the Timberwolves. I guess soooo many teams were lining up for him after all.
Wasn't Yao Ming the number 1 pick? Hasheem is number 2 Flynn is number 6 Hill is number 8 Twill is number 11 I am not blaming Morey but at some point he is going to be held accountable for having to carry out Le$ Alexanders crappy McLane style plan. DD
People were saying adelman didn't want to coach a young team which was not the case. Adelman didn't want to coach for morey because of all the constant changes that always circulted the team. At some point you have to build a core of players and move forward. Now let me say this, I'm all for improving the team when the chance arrives. Adelman, from what I've witnessed since the 80s like continuity on his roster. With morey in charge, he wasn't going to have that and he walked away. In minny, he has young players and a core of players with talent. Thats something he can deal will and foster as he moves them along. This rockets team have alot of alike talents at the same positions. Not only that, they're always being brought up in trades which do affect players. Its a reason why they struggled coming out the box last year with the whole melo thing and such. As much of a professional kevin martin and scola are, they're still human just like you and I. No matter what your pay is, it will still be hard to give your guts to a team that has looked to trade you every season you've been here. This year with the nixed pau deal, we see some disinterest once the team is down. After the trade deadline, players feel secure and they start playing better. This isn't some magic potion. I said it before that if it came to keeping adelman vs morey, I wouldve chose adelman any and everyday. I can't guarantee it, but Adelman would still be here if morey was gone. Its easier finding a daryl morey than it is rick adelman.
I could have sworn this is what you were asking the Rockets to do a year or two back. Am I misremembering? Go young and athletic, add some 7-footers (Dalembert, Thabeet), let go of Battier and Chuck. The results aren't what you expected?
Yao was injured, nothing we can do about that. The rest were guys that were busts and picked too early. Morey bought low on them, and if they don't pan out, he can deny their team option. My point was, he has never had a pick higher than #14 to choose a player. All the players you named were not his picks, they were some other G.M.'s mistake.
One could argue that he was mainly responsible for our handling of the 2006 draft (even if he wasn't the official GM), where we traded our 8th pick and Stromile Swift for Shane Battier.
To this day, I'm still not sure how I feel about that trade. Looking back, we needed a defender like Shane since we had a healthy Yao and Mcgrady. But with the way the roster is now and the lack of star potential, Rudy Gay would be nice right about now.
The last person to not do as told, Rick Adlman, is no longer with the team. Can't remember what was given up for Flynn but Hasheem was the wrong side of thirty Battier that was bound to leave and become a ring chaser. Hill was in the T-Mac trade. Twill was for a lotto protected pick. Not bad really but yes at some point they have to produce.
That was me and thats what I'm saying. Thabeet isnt playing, patterson is still trying to get into shape, dally is 30. I'm not really concerned with the results as much as with how we get the results. If playing martin, scola and dally nets the team .500, then thats a problem. Adelamn repeatedly talked about finding minutes. It wasnt until a trade happend that his rotation got smaller. Mind you, he's had to coach some talented young teams, but he didn't have alot of played equal in terms of talent and skill like he did with the rockets.
Until we start winning... That's how it goes. When we win you start seeing penis jerk threads stating how everyone is aawesome
Still love this deal since it took the chance out of our hands in overpaying Gay 16 per for the next 5-6 years. We have perimeter scores we need someone in the post. Someone you can say get me a basket from 5FT in or get to the damn line
The grizz overpayed because thats what tarditionally bad teams do. If he were on the rockets during that stretch, he would be like a 10m per year player. Just to note, the rockets don't really have anyone who can take a couple of dribbles and nail jumpers in players grill like Rudy can. That is a unique skill set that is always useful especially in close ball games.
Exactly. HIS picks were AB, PatPat, Marcus Mo, D-Mo, Carl Landry, Chase Bud, etc.... His trades have always been ones that we benefit on moreso than the trade partner. Injuries are not his fault.... NBA intervention on killings his deals....are not his fault He makes effort to shake things up when he needs to and does what he can.
That is true about Gay's skill set but him being a 10m per year player with the Rockets is an unknown. You can't predict a team going out and overpaying that 16m per. I could have sworn actually that the Nets went out offered him that much or close to. Now we went out and tried to overpay for Marc but it was not as much. Why? Because we needed that low post scorer like other teams needed that perimeter scorer who can create his own shot.
