A lot has been said about Chuck's D. However, it seems that the team may be missing him on the offensive end just as much. Chuck is a great high post passer and made his layups at a pretty good clip off cuts to the basket and offensive boards.

Without him, it seems the team has really over-taxed Lowry and relied on him to generate too much of the offense-- great for his personal stats, but probably not so good overall given the tight schedule. Remember, while the other guys in the starting lineup (Martin, Scola, Budinger) can score, they are not really great 1-on-1 creators.

Also, without Chuck to run the Adelman "corner" set, the paint seems more congested for the guards. Jordan Hill and Dalembert can dunk the ball and even make some midrange shots, but I don't think they facilitate the offense as well as Hayes did. It seems that the team will really benefit from having someone to take some of the burden off Lowry.

Meanwhile, I wonder how happy Chuck is nowadays-- much of his skills are probably wasted on a bad and iso-heavy Kings team.

Rockets miss Adelman on the offensive end

    :p

Kidding aside, easy to say "Yeah, we're gonna continue to run the Adelman offense or parts of it" and the players liking it, and we'll call Chris Finch up, who ran it(or parts of it) down at the D-League and this and that, but what's out there, doesn't appear to be the Adelman offense. Offense got worse while defense remains the same(or worse)

To be honest, you can't make Jordan Hill or Sammy D a high-post passer. They just don't have Chuck's skills.

As I said in the Parson's thread, I wonder if we should put Parsons into the starting lineup and make him play the role of Chuck Hayes with a Basketball. Either that, or maybe call Charlotte and see what they want for Boris Diaw and his moobs.

I'm pretty sure this is the second thread on this topic in the last few weeks. At least I think it is.

They are not running Adelman's sets, it is PnR mostly.....and Chuck would set a good pick but is no threat on the roll.

They miss him a ton on defense......but.........

Operation sneaky tank is rolling along nicely.

When your worst offensive player is your center, you need to get him out of the lane. That is why Hayes worked and Hill is not working. There really is no offensive system to make use of Hill. McHale is going to have to make a decision soon, because his Center is getting in the way of the offense.

McHale is starting to show a flex offense, which will get the weak side big out high (after giving a pick). Hill can't do anything with the ball out there, though. It isn't working.

Absolutely. He is a superior player to Hill on both ends...by a long ways.

I think adelman covered a lot of warts offensively.

I've seen some Adelman offense in these games too.

Not fair to compare now McHale with Adelman. The last remembrance you have about Adelman's team is the team at the end of season, at its peak. The current team it's probably at its worst moment. Right now this team should be compared with the team that started 0-5 and 5-13 last season.

Unlike with Chuck, we can't trust Hill or Dalembert to make good decisions with the ball.

We complained about Battier and Chuck being "black holes," but they made the right decisions and limited turnovers despite low scoring output.

Hill and Dalembert are black holes and make stupid decisions.

I think this is an overreaction. Given the lack of a consistent rotation with Parsons, TWill, Patterson, Dalembert, etc. working in and out of the lineup, as well as KMart's apparent disappearing foul-drawing skills, the offense is bound to be set back anyway.

The problem of the Rockets is still at the defensive end.

    This

Last year our execution was excellent.

    Now its all iso ball.

I don't think Chuck makes much of a difference this year.

Which is why I said Lowry's stats will skyrocket but the team will not be better because of it.

no sarcasm but Chuck was an assassin. he knows how to score. with chuck and dalembert on the floor that's a no play zone for other team. offensively, not so strong but defense is a good offense, we'll just play 3 shooters and good fast-break guards.

If we are going to be pining for the old days, then why not miss Hakeem, he was great on both ends.
