I dont know what it is with K-Mart this season. I've always had issues with his defense, and I kind of figured that its something you have to deal with knowing that his offense compensates. But this season, its even his offensive play that's frustrating to watch- he struggles to play within the flow of the offense, his dribbling ability is subpar, and it seems like whenever he drives he's banking on getting fouled, and when it doesnt come, he's helpless. His jumpshot is good, but when its off, he's useless on the court...hope his game turns around and we deal him. At this point, I'm ready to see Courtney Lee in the starting lineup.

No, we need a superstar. A legit guy that we can build around. Thats what we need.

And I think PG is the easiest to fill at the moment.

Even unloading those other two, what will that get you? We could of landed Gasol, but we didn't. That was likely the best we could do. I don't think another opportunity like that comes anytime soon.

Its becoming more and more clear that we are going to have to draft our next cornerstone piece.

    We need to be bad.

Thats the whole point, we aren't able to suck enough to get a top 3 pick. Its going to be 12-14 year after year.

This is a golden opportunity to sell off our pieces and get 2 really good picks in a great draft.

Thats not "the guy" I want to trade. I want to trade Martin/Scola and Lowry.

I just cannot envision a path to championship roster right now with these players. How good Lowry is aside, tell me how we get on the path to a championship in the next three years?

I'm sure Martin will be traded, but it will happen when we play easier teams to over-inflate his value and trade high.

It appears the problem with the Rockets squad is they only have 3 legit players, and none of those 3 is even an all-star. Two of those three are only one way players (all offense, no defense).

    They'll be average again.

Complaining about the pro-tanking crowd all you want, but this team's ceiling is average... maybe above average at best.

Pro tanking crowd = shot at Blake Griffin type of player.

Pro Mediocrity crowd = .500 ball for years.

BTW, am I the only person who thinks Blake Griffin is a little b****? He seemed to get pissy everytime someone looked at him funny. I kind of liked him last year, and the whole game last night I kept thinking 'What a douche"

I love his attitude, never accepting a hand up, plays with a mean streak.

That guy is a hall of fame player if he stays healthy.

I would trade all 15 Rockets for hm today.

Pro tanking Crowd: Believe tanking or sucking it up got us The Dream and Rafael Sampson or at the very least The Dream. Not saying there is another top 5 center in the history of the NBA is out there but it get us the best chance at a superstar. I am of the belief no superstar wants to come here. Can't remember if any of these type of players ever mentioned Houston in their top 5 spots to land. You trade Martin, and Scola for scrubs with expiring contracts then you give yourself a shot to buy one but I doubt it happens. Sucking is our best shot.

Larsv8 Lowry by himself with a bunch of youngens and no post score at all will not lead us to 500 type season. We would land in the top 5 with just Lowry. Unless someone offers a package that just can't be refused.

What is the "shot" at Blake Griffin type of player? That's like saying:

Pro-selling all your worldly possessions for lottery tickets= shot at becoming millionaire

    Pro-working a 9-5 = hard labor for years

Tanking means rebuilding. You'd be looking at least 3 years of games like today which has everyone bellyaching. Why keep a stats guru like Morey around? All that number-crunching is useless when you're trying to be bad, Les will fire him and replace him with someone who might be the next Otis Smith. Or the next Isiah Thomas. Or he might even promote Mchale to GM. Then you'd be like Pacers, half a decade removed from the Artest era only to reach the same mediocre status they had 5 years ago.

Cavs tanked. Yes it was forced on them but they are better for it with two top 5 lotto picks. Les does not want to tank Moray wants to tank. He said as much in a interview. You can also keep Moray around for the draft. I would say he has found a lot of value with his value picks. My stance is that we will not get that superstar in free agency or even in a traded, so now it is time to look in the draft.

Yea we got our asses kicked and it looked really ugly. But come on, we have a brand new coach trying to install a brand new system in a shortened training camp. We picked up a decent legit starting center at the very last minute, something we haven't had for two years. No one can honestly say they expected a hot start to the season. I expected an 8-12, 7-13 start to the season. But there's too much talent on the team to not have a respectable record after 66 games, maybe even playoffs with Manu and ZBo already out for significant time.

You're right. He is a little b****, just like Chris Paul. Both are out looking to win every single night and they will get emotional. I wonder who will be the best tandem after this season...Paul and Griffin or Westbrook and Durant?

how is this analogy even remotely comparable?

You have no way of knowing that. The Celtics went from being one of the worst teams in the league to winning the championship the next year. The Sonic/Thunder drafted Durant and had two bad years, but then won 50 games.

Moreover, in a true tank, which would never happen, where KMart and Scola are held out of games because of "injuries", just as an example, then you are effectively in the same spot next year as those that don't want to tank. You have all your existing players, the same relative cap space... and, oh yeah, a high lotto pick.

Because you're not trying to be bad. You're trying to find the fastest way to be great. Which is probably why it seems like Morey has indicated he'd be open to "tanking" if it was an option Les allowed him to take.
