The Offense should NEVER run through Jordan Hill...

Jordan Hill's jump shot and post game is slowly driving me crazy. If he continues for the rest of the season to get as many touches offensively as he has so far, I will eventually end up on the news with the words "Suicide by Police" below a picture of my dead body.

But I don't blame him -- I blame McHale. NBA rosters have always been and will always be filled with guys over 6'10" who have little to no offensive skills. And that is completely understandable. What, however, is completely not understandable is having three fairly capable offensive players (Lowry, Martin and Scola), and having long stretches of the game in which not one of those three players is in the game. And I am not talking about garbage time against the Clippers tonight. Consistently through the season McHale has had all three of our scorers on the bench in games still very much on the line.

And, during these times, invariably the offense ends up posting up Jordan Hill or passing to Hill for an 18 foot jumper (which is vomit).

The Rockets have three competent scorers, and I see no reason to have at least one in the game at all times so that the offense can run through someone with the skill and confidence to take the responsibility of shooting the ball. Hill's offense makes me sad inside, but the only reason he has to end up shooting is because he is often forced to play with 4 guys with even less confidence than him.

I know McHale is still tinkering with rotations, but how does it makes sense to have three decent scorers, and to still put a lineup on the floor where not one player is a confident and skilled offensive player.

Again, Hill is playing out of position. He is NOT a '5.' He needs to be a '4' and a backup one at that. He's an energy guy best suited in spurts.

It's not fair to judge him. Any fault of his right now should be attributed to McHale, who refuses to acknowledge that Hill nor Scola are centers.

His defense also drives people crazy. When you're on the court you have to be constantly aware. I have no doubt we have players in la la land. There are a couple players that we have that their minds are always in the game on both ends consistently:
    Patterson,
    Lowry,
    Parsons,
    Chase (suprisingly)
Dragic (scoring oriented though...on the other hand not a bad trait for a bench player)

I think once Dalembert sheds the poundage/learns the sets he will start.

Jordan Hill used to be a much better offensive player. I have never seen him look this awful. I mean he REALLY LOOKS AWFUL...

It's called working with what you have, we didn't have Dalembert so it was clear Hill was going to focus on being more of a center. I'm glad we didn't try to turn Patterson into one, that would've been more counterproductive since he has way more upside than Hill.

Anyone who's watched the Rockets knows Hill is a better 4 than a 5. But since Yao went down we've had a huge hole there that someone has to fill. Hill is the best 4 to play the 5. That's not his fault but that's not his strength.

I think Morey has done a good job with the cards he's been dealt EXCEPT around the C position. He's passed on too many natural Cs in the draft and picked up a tweener because he thought he was the best player remaining. I agree with taking the best player in the 1st round. But 2nd rounders should be take a flyer players to fill our needs unless you know you can do better through FA and good FA Cs are hard to come by.

Yeah Jordan Hill showed alot of promise on the offensive end when he was first traded to Houston. He showed that he had a midrange jumper, and a jump hook. I don't know what happened.

Does he even play more than ten minutes a game?

He starts and plays the first 5 minutes then starts the 2nd half with 5 minutes then he is gone on the next dead ball. He is not very good and should be coming off the bench. Forget about his confidence. Make him earn a starting job (not likely).

Here's the thing, are we trying to win or trying to cultivate Hill? If were trying to make him into the play he's supposed to be we have to go through this pain of playing through him. Either we play Hill something like 25-35 minutes per game and get him involved, or we should just cut him out of the rotation completely.

Hill lacks what I'd like to call basketball nature. His skills on the court make him seem like he's only been playing for a handful of years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the guy didn't start playing basketball until his sophomore or junior year of High School. Certain things that basketball players are accustom to, he's just not. Call it BBall IQ, call it skills, call it whatever, the guy just needs more experience. Personally, I don't know why he doesn't get some D-League time in the mean time. The same goes for Thabust.

Hill was all the rage in camp. I'm not seeing anything on the court.

I think the same can be said of a lot of players. TWill has been mediocre, Dragic looked decent but has been underwhelming, even Morris looked better than he's been. Even in garbage minutes players need to step it up so that they can earn their spots in the roster, and yet all we see is mediocrity at best...

I agree... Hill is a solid situational power forward off the bench, he should only be played at the 5 in rare matchups, and he should never start.

Jordan Hill shouldn't be on this team. Horrible skills. The guy is just lost, small hands & pretty much fouls on every single play.

Yes, because before most of his game was off of pick and rolls.
Now Coach McHale thinks he can post up and is forcing Houston to run some crappy half court offense because McHale wants to relive the old days of dominant post play.
Other than Scola, NO OTHER POST ON THIS TEAM CAN PLAY HALF COURT OFFENSE.

Dalembert? He has no post game. Most of his points are from hustle rebounds and putbacks.
Patterson? He FLOURISHED off of our fast breaks last year. Now he's forced to post up and shoot contested mid rangers?
Hill? LOL. He's not supposed to be a first, second, or third option.
    Hasheem? Nope.

    Come on man...

Jordan Hill is basically a 12th man.

He should only be used in cases of extreme emergency, like if everyone on the team is hurt or fouled out.

The real problem, as Morey alluded to, is Patterson not being ready after the surgery.

He was the guy I thought would fill in Chuck's void and he hasn't been able to do so. Jordan Hill got pressed into more minutes than he's ready for, and a starting role, because Pat couldn't do it.
