Why did McHale give up after midway through the 3rd?

I see what you mean...more like start of the 4th. Interesting point but at that point, it was irreverent.

He was trying something different because what was on the floor, wasn't working. I give him credit for that and he is doing what he can with little practice plus a tough schedule by the NBA to start off the season. And it ain't his fault the NBA blocked our trade.

    Time to fire clutchfans

Are you kidding? Rick would stay with his starting five no matter what. Brad Miller is the example of why Rick Adelman got fired.

Playing that fool even when he sucks.
McHale is correct in taking out the bad starters (Martin, Bud, Hill, Scola) but Lowry should have at least played a few minutes in the 3rd...

Instead he goes with Flynn and Adrien. I have never seen a worse 1-2 combo than those morons. I used to like Flynn too. Just thought he wasn't given a chance... now I see I was wrong.

I was about to start this thread myself.

Down 13 at one point in the third. I understand the fact that we have two games over the weekend, (who cares. They rest tomorrow anyway) and that McHale is still trying to see what some of the players can do. Having said that, there is no excuse for this. You are down 13 freaking points in the third and you fold. That is a losers mentality and if the coach throws in the towel, the players will pick up on it. If you have a chance in a game (and down 13 in the 3rd quarter is surely not insurmountable) you have to give everything you have. NBA games can be dog fights and it takes heart to win games. To surrender like that will only breed a losing culture. Good job McHale....

Makes me miss the rockets just a few years ago who fought for everything.

I mean I understand him for punishing the bad starters... but I don't even think that was his intention. It was more like him just giving up and letting the garbage time all stars play.

Starters are playing really bad today. MARTIN, CHASE and HILL SHOULD NOT START AT ALL. TRADE THEM WHILE WE CAN!!!

We are quitely tanking,...maybe that "dump" David Stern took on us did the trick on Les Alexander

Because its coach "McHELL". This is where he's leading this franchise straight to. We will die then be given new life through the draft.

I'm mad at Les Alexander then too.
    "We want to stay competitive."

I understand for PR reasons he can't just say "Let's tank!".
But I totally disagree with him trying to lead everyone one way and doing the other discreetly.

McHale also looking completely distant out there on the court. Everytime the camera zoomed on him he was just blanking and seemed completely zoned out...

I don't think it was so much punishing the starters, I mean they just looked old and slow tonight. I think it had more to do with being realistic, the Rockets weren't coming back tonight against that squad. Save everyone's energy for another tough game Friday and try again, this is going to pattern a lot of coaches will do this season.

I guess he thought they needed a rest, Dalembert is obviously not able to handle decent minutes yet. You can argue he took Dragic out a little bit early, that's a valid point. But don't exasperate over this, do it over the starter's effort.

Dalembert's reputation is that he goes hard some days and then dissappears others, there is a reason he was unsigned...lol.

I think we wasted our time signing the guy, but it was for only one year so, no harm I guess.

The game wasn't over actually it was -15 but we could have had it to -11 going into the 4th if the refs didn't blow that goaltending and williams hit some free throws.

It was a little odd that he gave up but the game didn't even feel like it was that close and never felt like personally that we had a chance to win.

Dalembert is great against slightly undersized players and unathletic ones.
He's not going to do well against Bynum and DeAndre/Griffin.

He is NOT a waste of a signing. Not at all.

maybe, when they say we want to remain competitive, it just means that they want the players to play competitively so that they don't lose fans/$.

No. The unit that brought us back in it.
    @ DD,
Dalembert has given effort every time he has gotten playing time. Its not his fault he plays 10 mins a game. He doesn't really look out of shape either when he's playing.

It looks like its been decided, WE'RE TANKING!!!!
Its why Adelman is gone, and Mchale was hired to sink this ship that was already taking on water. Why else would anyone play T-Will @ power forward vs Blake Griffin.;)
